It marks the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry. He was thirty years old. He died His redemptive death at Golgotha when He was only thirty three. However, He also spent thirty years of life in what is called His hidden years in Nazareth’s school, growing in wisdom and stature (Luke 2:52). These years were not hidden in the sense of unimportant, but rather, it means that we do not find much about them in the Gospel accounts. However, they are rich with meaning, revealing the deeper truths of our faith and its invitation to each one of us who bear the name Christian. There is no doubt that even during those hidden years the plan, purpose and redemptive implications of the entire saving life, death, and resurrection of Jesus were being manifested and revealed. They reveal how the ordinary becomes extraordinary when lived in communion with God the Father. Congratulations to Anthony Lopez, son of Louis and Tina Lopez and one of our 10:00 a.m. Mass altar servers, who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday with his Eighth grade parochial class at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Valrico. As primarily a senior community, we have a great deal of wisdom and mature faith to share with the young people among us. Let’s be encouraged to give a good example of godly living and faithful service so that they can in turn hand on the faith. God’s blessing to you and your families – Father Kovanis Prayers IN MEMORIAM PARISH PRAYER LINE David Cichanski, Thomas Alessandro, Caroline DiSciorio, Ann Towne and all of the souls of the faithful departed. The preparatory catechism does not contain new teaching, rather it emphasizes the Church’s established teachings that are most pertinent to the world’s issues at that time. In anticipation of the 2015 conference, “The Family Fully Alive”, Prince of Peace will address one of these ten catechetical themes each month. We will offer a study of the preparatory catechism in May. This study requires advanced sign-up as we will need to order materials. Additionally, our clergy will facilitate weekly small group discussions on the U.S. Bishops’ Pastoral Letter on Marriage beginning in February. Registration for these small group discussions is capped at 12 married couples. We hope you will join us in preparing for this special event and in affirming the Church’s teachings of family. We were overwhelmed! “Thank you for your stunning response to our request for donations to fill Pantry shelves for Christmas,” says Tom Bullaro, co-director of Our Lady’s Pantry with his wife Anita. “Food donations were pouring in every day, as were the checks — some for many hundreds of dollars! Our shelves and freezers were bursting with food, so we had lots to share with our neighbors. “All of our volunteers join us in thanking everyone who helped. You know who you are! We thank you for caring.” PRINCE OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH 10 JANUARY 11, 2015 Stewardship The Nativity of the Lord Dec. 24/25 The Holy Family Dec. 27/28 Mass Time Sacrificial Giving Mass Time Sacrificial Giving 4:00 p.m. (Church) $6,798.50 4:00 p.m. (Church) $3,760.50 4:00 p.m. (Conesa) $2,055.00 4:00 p.m. (Conesa) $527.00 Midnight $3,282.00 8:00 a.m. $2,739.00 8:00 a.m. $3,863.00 10:00 a.m. $3,015.00 10:00 a.m. $3,671.00 12:00 p.m. $3,246.40 12:00 p.m. $3,733.97 Online $958.00 TOTAL $23,403.47 TOTAL $13,287.90 Mary Mother of God Jan. 1 The Epiphany of the Lord Jan. 3/4 Mass Time Sacrificial Giving 4:00 p.m. (Church) $4,758.05 4:00 p.m. (Conesa) $940.50 $1,295.00 8:00 a.m. $4,410.00 10:00 a.m. $1,670.63 10:00 a.m. $4,852.00 12:00 p.m. $1,547.13 12:00 p.m. $3,413.00 Online $2,158.00 TOTAL $7,379.13 TOTAL $18,373.55 Mass Time Sacrificial Giving 4:00 p.m. (Church) $2,866.50 8:00 a.m. CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS If anyone needs to have a record of their contribution history for income tax purposes for 2014, please fill out the form below and return it to the parish office.
