Basketball – Children & Teen Basketball League
Challenge Course – Climbing on the Edge
Every player will have the opportunity to develop his/her
basketball and team skills in a positive and constructive manner.
Players should understand the fundamentals of basketball,
including dribbling, passing and shooting, as well as the rules
of the game. Teens will be organized into teams by staff and,
after the first week, individuals may be moved around to ensure
teams are balanced. Each player is guaranteed 1 hour of play
each week. Skill level: intermediate to advanced.
Children will experience what being more than 30 feet in the air
feels like! Richmond Hill’s 22-element dynamic ropes course will
challenge children, excite them and give them the confidence to
try anything. Staff will keep participants physically and emotionally
engaged as they experience all aspects of the ropes course and
teach the group about the equipment, how to belay and give out
some pointers about climbing. Come climb on the Edge!

Five Principles of HIGH FIVE Programs
1. A Caring Adult: Quality programs for children must have a positive interaction between staff and child.
2. Friends: Children’s peers offer inclusion and acceptance, opportunity for having fun in constructive play,
and opportunity for developing and practising social skills.
3. Participation: Children need to make choices, have a voice and do things by and for themselves.
4. Play: Stresses fun, creativity and cooperation.
5. Mastery: Provide children with activities and tasks that make them feel they are special, important and succeeding.
All instructors of programs for children ages 6 to 12 years old are HIGH FIVE® Certified.

Outdoor Recreation – Creative Nature Journaling
Does your child dream of being on Broadway?! Taught by theatre
professionals, this performance-based class will teach children
the basics of musical theatre through song, dance and theatre
games. This non-competitive program is open to children with
all levels of theatre experience. There will be a final performance
for family and friends on the Main Stage of the theatre on the
Main Stage of the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.
Children will spend some time outside to gain a deeper
appreciation of nature as fall emerges in all its beauty. Students
will heighten their awareness of nature and renew their sense of
place and belonging by recording personal experiences,
inspirations, wanderings and wonderings. They’ll assemble a
Creative Nature Journal keepsake from repurposed materials
and then experiment with different basic artistic approaches
and techniques that will help create curiosity about the natural
world. No previous drawing or nature study is necessary.

Zumba® Kids Jr.
Zumba® Kids Jr. classes are a dance ‘n’ play party for lil’ feet
where pint-sized party animals get silly, dream big and begin
their journey to a healthy future. This program is where 4 to 6
year olds just let loose and be themselves – little bundles of
natural energy that are endlessly curious about new sounds and
experiences! Here they can socialize, move to age-appropriate
music and play games with other kids.
