Through ordinary and simple actions, we strive to teach and spread the Catholic faith, leading all to know God in a personal and loving way. In the celebration of the Eucharist, the parish community receives energy to care for the needs of all people through acts of kindness and love. 2ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Parishioners, Our readings today reinforce the voice of God calling men to a religious vocation. Our first reading gives us the genuine response of a young Samuel who hears something, but doesn’t immediately realize that it is the voice of God. This is a common response from one who first hears God’s voice. Our Gospel gives us the wonderful example of Andrew bringing his brother, Simon (Peter) to respond to the voice of Jesus in their lives. May we pray that young men in our parish will hear the familiar voice of the Lord and respond to it. Fr. Monthly Themes – January The Meaning of Human Sexuality The tangible, earthly, corporeal world is more than inert matter or modeling clay for the human will. Creation is sacred. It has sacramental meaning. It reflects God’s glory. That includes our bodies. Our sexuality has the power to procreate, and shares in the dignity of being created in the image of God. We need to live accordingly.
