“I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”
Matthew 25:35
Have you ever been the one who is the
Outsider or the Stranger? Perhaps you have
gone to a new school/college, joined new
group or team, or been the new person at
your job. You know how it feels. This
should make us sympathetic towards other
people who are going through the experience of being the “new” person.
Here is another twist: Jesus is saying that
He is that person. And you are the person
who has the choice to welcome or ignore
Him, to help Him or to leave it to others.
How will you treat Him the next time you
meet Him?
Let us pray:
O God of welcome, help me to welcome the
stranger as I’d want to be welcomed. Help me to
be ever conscious of the significance of these
words of Jesus in my life. Amen
