Do you not know that you are God’s temple and
that God’s Spirit dwells in you?. 1 Corinthians 3:16
Think of the most beautiful church you
have ever seen. It is cared for out of
respect for God’s house. In this verse
St. Paul reminds us that the Holy Spirit also
lives in each one of us. You yourself are a
temple for the Holy Spirit. In what kind of
a temple do you want the Holy Spirit to
dwell?
Caring for our own temple includes getting
proper rest, putting healthy food into it, not
abusing it with drugs or alcohol, and giving
it the healthy exercise it needs. Our bodies
need the same loving and proper care as
any great cathedral.
Let us pray:
Come Holy Spirit, and help me to take good care
of your dwelling place in me. Let me not give in to
the temptations that harm and debuse my body.
Amen

Praying for our Diocese in 2014
We ask you al to pray the Diocesan prayer in
your daily devotions. This week we pray for
the parish community of Kilmovee
We are praying for our diocese because we
believe that through prayer we allow God to
sow seeds of hope, courage and joy in our
lives; through prayer we find ways to renew
ourselves in the faith and bring it to others;
through prayer we find the wisdom and
courage of the Spirit; through prayer we
come to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the God of our prayers, the God who,
in the words of St. John, lavishes his love
upon us, the God who, in the words of Isaiah,
has carved us on the palm of his hand and see
us as precious in his eyes, the God who died
for us in Jesus. This 'Year of Prayer' is a very
special time in our diocese. In our 'Diocesan
Prayer' we are inviting the Holy Spirit to
come afresh on each member of the church in
our diocese. The Holy Spirit came on the first
disciples after an extended period of time in
united prayer. The Catholic Charismatic
Renewal traces its origin to a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit following a retreat held
in February 1967 at Duquesne University,
Pittsburgh. Our conviction and trust is that
God's Spirit will work a powerful renewal for
our diocese and we will be re-energised with
the fire of the Spirit.
