Horseraces on ice and snow with ‘Light and Fire’
The programme of the ‘Night Turf St. Moritz’ world premiere has been fixed
Friday, 6th February 2015, from 6 p.m.
Thrilling show races, hot rhythms by top DJ JAYBEE, culinary delicacies in the tent
city and, to conclude, a spectacular show in the night sky above the lake entitled
‘Light and Fire’, as well as a delicious dinner and party ambiance with the mambo
music star LOU BEGA and others – these are the exceptional highlights that active
sportsmen and sportswomen and race spectators can look forward to during the
premiere of the ‘Night Turf St. Moritz’! The events on the lake are free of charge for all
visitors. A limited number of admission tickets are available for the Race Party in the
VIP tent.
On Friday 6th February 2015, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., the race spectators will be able to
witness for the first time three exciting night-time races on the frozen lake of St. Moritz,
directly in front of the grandstands, on the illuminated 800m straight. These will be the
‘Longines Show-Sprint Race’, the ‘Show Sprint Trotting Race presented by BMW (Schweiz)
AG’, and a ‘Celebrity Skikjöring presented by Credit Suisse’.
Show races with professional participation
Whilst the names of the daring celebrities are still eagerly awaited, registration for the races
for professional participants has begun. Horses can participate that are registered on the
official racing list and have a valid entry for St.Moritz, and the riders and drivers must be in
possession of an official licence. No entry fees will be charged for the show races. Therefore,
there will be no prize money as with regular races, but all the owners will receive a
participation award, and the lucky winners of the show races will receive a special prize.
Funfair with hot rhythms and delicacies to warm you up
Before and after the thrilling Night Turf horseraces, Swiss top DJ JAYBEE will ensure an
après-ski and party ambiance for the spectators on the outdoor stage. Moreover, visitors will
be spoilt in culinary terms with delicacies prepared by various top hotels of St. Moritz.
Attractive VIP packages with the ‘King of Mambo’
A limited number of admission tickets are available for an attractive event package in the VIP
area of the tent city. The tickets include a welcome cocktail, exclusive seats with access to
the terrace directly next to the racetrack, and dinner. During the after dinner party, the
internationally renowned music star and legendary ‘King of Mambo’ LOU BEGA will enchant
the guests in the VIP tent. His enticing songs will ensure a cheerful atmosphere, as his
trademarks are connecting cultures and generations, and spreading optimism, joie de vivre
and passion! Since the number of VIP packages is limited, a quick decision is important: first
come, first served!
‘Light and Fire’ in the night sky
For the inauguration of the first night race and to crown it all, a show in the night sky above
the lake of St. Moritz entitled ‘Light and Fire’ will take place on this ‘Night Turf St. Moritz’
premiere at 8 p.m. No doubt, it will remain in the minds of the visitors and the active
sportsmen and sportswomen as an unforgettable event of pure enjoyment!
Broad support for the premiere
In the first year of the newly launched ‘Night Turf St. Moritz’ event, the St. Moritz Racing
Association as the organiser benefits from the comprehensive support of the two main
sponsors, Longines and BMW (Schweiz) AG. Use of the exclusive celebrity Skikjöring will be
made possible by Credit Suisse AG as a racing sponsor, and Carpe Diem Beds of Sweden
will participate for the first time in St. Moritz as the music sponsor of LOU BEGA and DJ
JAYBEE. Thanks to the municipality and the St. Moritz Spa and Tourist Association,
admission will be free of charge for all spectators, grandstands included. Destination
Engadine also supports the premiere of the first Night Turf in St. Moritz.
