This free program at the Elwood Public Library will encourage you to read 1,000 books to your child before he or she enters school. Books that are read again and again can be included. Your child will receive incentive prizes at various milestones, such as 100 books, 250, etc. All children not yet enrolled in kindergarten, including babies, are invited to participate in this new program! Voting hours will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Information about the proposed 2015-2016 budget and election will be available at a Public Information Meeting to be held at the library on Wednesday, April 1 at 7 p.m. This information will also be mailed to all residents during the last week of March. Voter registration will be available in the library from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on April 8. Applications and information for casting absentee ballots will be available beginning February 2, 2015.
