Making Grateful Kids
Tuesday, February 17, 7:00 p.m.
Does gratitude do more than just make
kids feel good? Can adults actually make
kids more grateful through deliberate
effort? The answer to both questions is
a resounding YES! In this talk by author
Dr. Jeffrey Froh of Making Grateful Kids,
you’ll learn about practical, scientificallysupported strategies that parents and
teachers can use to make children and
adolescents more grateful.

A reading program for
children from birth to age
5
One of the best ways to encourage learning is to spend time sharing books
every day. Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that
provide a solid reading foundation – a key to learning success. This free
program at the Elwood Public Library will encourage you to read 1,000 books
to your child before he or she enters school. Books that are read again and again
can be included. Your child will receive incentive prizes at various milestones,
such as 100 books, 250, etc. All children not yet enrolled in kindergarten,
including babies, are invited to participate in this new program! Join us at our
kickoff with a special performance by Katie’s Puppets. See p. 4 for details.
