celebrated in BHEL with great fervor and enthusiasm. A

May Day is associated with the commemoration
of the social and economic achievements of the Labour
movement. It is celebrated on May 1st because in 1884
the Federation of Oganized Trades and Labour Unions
inspired by Labor's 1872 success in Canada, demanded
an Eight-hour work day in the United States to come in
effect as of May 1, 1886. And May Day is designated
International Workers Day.
