As we continue our series Who Are You?, I have
another devotional for you to engage in this week. As we
continue to grow and mature in Christ, I pray that our
lives will be filled with humility and confession as we
seek to follow God and His commands.
-Mickey
1) Pray for God to open your eyes to what the Bible says about the concept
of confession and how it applies to our daily lives as Christians.
2) Read Psalm 32:3-5.
Describe the life of the Psalmist before he confessed his sin.
What did God do when that confession took place?
3) Read 1 John 1:8-10 three times, stopping each time to reflect.
What things about confession stand out to you?
What connections are there between you and these verses?
Is there anything in your life that needs to change in light of these
verses?
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash
me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
(Psalm 51:1–2)

WENTWORTH SINGING:
On Sunday, February 1, at 1:00 PM, our
congregation will be in charge of the SINGING at the
Monroe House at Wentworth.
Everyone is
encouraged to attend.
In the same book about shame that I mentioned last
week, Dr. Wilson provides some scriptural passages
that can help get you started seeing yourself as God
sees you when you are in Christ. Her list fits perfectly
into our series of Who Are You? Here is a portion of
that list.

SYMPATHY:
Our hearts go out to Clara Betts, and her family, on
the death of her brother, TONY GABBARD, in an
auto accident last Sunday.
You are a child of God, and you belong to him
(John 1:12; 1 Peter 2:9).
You are chosen by God (Ephesians 1:4).
You have been called by God (Romans 8:28, 30).
You have access to God through Jesus
(Ephesians 2:18; 3:12).
You are forgiven and your sin debt is paid
(Colossians 2:13-14).
You are not condemned (Romans 8:1).
You are God’s handiwork (Ephesians 2:10;
Philippians 1:6; 2:13).
 Your body is the Holy Spirit’s abode (1 Corinthians
6:19; John 14:16).
 You have everlasting life (John 6:47).
 You have abundant life (John 10:10).
 You have been rescued from the dominion of
darkness and brought into the kingdom of God’s
Son (Colossians 1:13).
