Brian Brown, Club member since 2008 and a junior at St. Vincent - St. Mary, has been very busy! Not only was he named Youth of the Year in 2013 and 2014, he also received an award for being one of Akron’s most dedicated youth volunteers. Brian was recognized at the 24th Annual Global Youth Service Day Recognition Program at the Akron Main Library. Global Youth Service Day celebrates and mobilizes the millions of young people who improve their communities each day of the year through service. Since June of 2013, Brian has dedicated almost 250 hours of service to his community. GIVE OUR KIDS Club Member Spotlight Board Member Spotlight Joseph: LeBron James Club, age 11 Betty L. Rider, der, Ph.D. This year Joseph really wanted to improve his grade point average. He started bringing in his homework every day to Club to participate in our homework help time, Power Hour. With hard work, dedication and the help of Boys & Girls Club staff, Joseph improved his GPA to a 4.0! Joseph is also learning to be a role model and leader amongst his peers through our Good Character training and programs. Some of Joseph’s favorite activities include playing basketball, soccer, and the clarinet. He also loves math!
