PRAYERREQUESTS SMITHTON & NAIRN CHURCH WIDER ISSUES ‘The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you” ‘ Joshua 10:8 Emmaus Road Trust: Colin MacPherson was grateful for our financial support last year. The money was directed towards Myanmar (Burma) and the publication of Bruce Milne’s book from the Bible Speaks Today Series on The Message of Heaven and Hell. A copy of the book is at reception if anyone is interested in seeing it. Colin goes on to say that 2014 was a year where Christian publishers and writers sowed many seeds. Their projects took them to the Baltic States of Estonia and Latvia, to Central Europe, Greece, Turkey, Islamic Central Asia and onwards through Mongolia and China to the Buddhist countries of South East Asia. Most recently they have begun supporting a publishing work in Thailand. Please continue to pray for Colin and the work of ERT. Pray for your Community Groups tonight. Pray for a time of fellowship in the gospel as we study the bible together in our groups. We were saddened to hear the passing of Donald Macaskill last Friday. Donald was a character and will be sadly missed. The funeral is here at Smithton on Friday at 10am. and the interment in Dunvegan, Skye. Pray for his family and his two sons who will be travelling over from Australia. Ruth Urquhart's mother passed away in Gairloch yesterday. Please pray for her and the family at this sad time. Continue to pray for those in our congregation who are undergoing treatment – Donnie MacPherson, Geraine MacKenzie, Myra Cameron and Olda Dickson Pray for Duncan MacKintosh who is still very unwell. He has been transferred back to Invergordon Cottage Hospital. Please continue to pray for the work in Nairn. The Kirk Session have decided to try a new format at the evening service which includes an interactive question and answer session art the end of the service. Remember Peter and Morag Turnbull who are preparing to come to Burghead. They are putting their house on the market. They have three small children and are expecting a fourth. Peter starts at the ETS this year. Pray for new united commitment from the congregation. Chris Smart (Ferintosh) has a monthly service at Cromarty. Please pray for the service this Sunday and for a real spiritual breakthrough in that community. Bible Alive is in its 4th week at Smithton Church. Praise God for the opportunity we have to communicate the gospel to these young children. Pray for Ali MacDonald and Catherine Logan as they speak to the P6 children each week. Greece: Please pray for the country in the wake of their general election earlier in the week. Believers face many hardships and opposition. Pray for peace in Europe as tensions rise. Pray particularly for Argyris and Dina at this time. Remember John Nicholls as he teaches the Pastoral Care course tomorrow and for the next six weeks at Edinburgh Theological seminary. Our good friend Joe Barnard was licensed for the ministry yesterday. We pray that God would continue to bless Joe and his family in their ministry with the Free Church. We will soon be inducting our new Deacons for Smithton and Nairn. Please remember the six men in your prayers: Iain Bryce, Brian Davidson, Lachie MacDonald, Robert Maclean, Andrew Maclennan, and Graham Muir. Please pray for the Sunday School in both Smithton and Nairn. Remember too the teachers who give of their time to teach the young folk. Adam: Remember Adam in your prayers as he travels through central Asia at the moment. Pray that he would be kept safe in all that he does. Rev David Macleod is set to become the first minister of the recently formed North Harris Free Church after accepting a call last week. Please pray for him and the church in North Harris.
