We know that there is a great deal of anxiety around the submission of a rank order list (ROL). After all, it is the final step
in a process that determines your medical career. Hitting that “SUBMIT” button
in CaRMS Online is a pivotal moment and
the culmination of years of hard work and
the many difficult decisions you made in
selecting programs and prioritizing them

be aware that no matter how compelling
your argument is or how much we may sympathize with your situation, our answer will
always be the same: “Unfortunately, we cannot make an exception.”
The best advice we can give is this: SUBMIT YOUR ROL EARLY – you can always

who wanted to reorder programs on her ROL
after the deadline, but didn’t ask for an exception because she thought she’d missed
her chance? Why should Amelia receive special treatment while other applicants have to
live with the consequences?
If we allowed an exception for one person,

For example, if we let Ameila submit her
ROL after the deadline due to an unforeseen power outage, she would be entered
in the match. For her, this is great. If she had
So, SUBMIT EARLY – the ROL is too important to put at risk. Your match result could depend on it. Give yourself enough time to submit your ROL, regardless of what unforeseen
event might occur.
