Women Athletes Business Network Mentoring Program Grace Jackson Grace Rosemarie Jackson is an Olympic Silver Medalist and is the Sports Develoment Director at The University of the West Indies on the Mona Campus, Jamaica. She is the first woman to win a silver medal for Jamaica in the Olympic Games which afforded her the honour of Order of Distinction (OD) from the Jamaican Goverment. At her first Olympic Games in 1984, she made history by being the first woman from an english speaking carribean country to have ran in four finals at a single Olympic Games. Jackson has made significant contribution as a member of both the IAAF athletes commission, women’s committee, and FISU’s committee for the Study of University Sport (CESU). Intercollegiate Athletes were the beneficiary of Grace’s presidency of the Jamaica Intercollegiate Sports Association(JISA) for 5 years from 2001 to 2006. She has served her national federation, the Jamaica Administrative Athletic Association (JAAA), for 12 years, 8 of which as vice president, she led the transformation of the national competittive calendar which created an environment that allowed elite athletes to train, develop, and compete locally. From 1998-2011, she served in several managerial capacities for world track & field competitions. She continues to inspire young people across the Island of Jamaica through her motivational talks. Her initiatives have led to The University of the West Indies being the host to the IAAF High Performance Centre and The Racers Track Club for which Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Warren Weir amoung other elite athletes are members.
