Troy K. King
Governor May 2014 to April 2015
We are a new committee of the Lodge
and very excited to be here. This is only our
first news letter and we’re happy to already announce the committee's first new
member! Please welcome Brother Jim
Fanz. Jim is President of the Poseidon Swimming Board of Directors and recently enrolled at Hopewell #1472 as a new member. He is a solid addition to our ranks and
we’re looking forward to working with him.
There is much good to be done here and
to start, the first goal for the committee is
to establish a working partnership between
the Team and Lodge while building the
strength of the Lodge and committee with
new members. There are some very fine
families on the Poseidon Team family and
we should all be excited with the future
prospects their involvement brings.
Please stay tuned for
more excitement!

Senior regent’S MeSSage
February already and tax time is almost
upon us. I am hoping all things have settled down after the holidays for everyone.
February is also the time of the year we
stop and remember that special someone
in our lives on Valentine's Day. May we
also take time to let our friends know how
much they mean to all of us all year long
and cherish the time we have together.
Why not invite that friend out to the Lodge
for dinner one night and invite a nonmember guest to become a member of our
fraternity.
I had the privilege in January to visit an individual. It is always a pleasure! I would
like to encourage each of you to take the
time to sit with someone who could use a
friend and enjoy the opportunity to make
someone else smile. I was thinking I would
brighten her day and she, in fact, brought
the sunshine to me !! I love you Mother (93
years old)!!
Congratulations to our Academy of Friendship Recipients, Lynetta Parrish, Dawn
Ozmore, Cindy King and Julia Andrews.
I would like to send a special thank you to
all our membership for contributing gifts of
love to the children of two adopted families
and to forty nursing home individuals. The
recipients were so gracious for all your
love and kindness showed during the holiday season. Let us continue the fellowship
of family and friends throughout the year.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at
7:30 p.m. the membership is invited to a
Green Cap Ceremony honoring Sandy
Baker, Senior Graduate Regent. Everyone, family and friends are invited to attend the Green Cap Ceremony and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Please remember to find us on Facebook
for up coming events!!

Hopewell Moose Lodge's Boy Scouts of America, Troop 183
The scouts of Troop 183 started the year off in a very patriotic way by attended a special
scouting activity at Patriots Point in Charleston, SC. On Jan. 2-4, 2015, the young men had
the opportunity to camp on the USS Yorktown (CV-10) Essex-class aircraft carrier, explore
the USS Laffey (DD-724) Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer and go below on the USS
Clamagore (SS-343), Guppy III submarine.
They also had the honor of visiting;
The Congressional Medal of Honor Museum which features interactive exhibits that explain
the origin of the Medal of Honor and its stories of the exceptionally brave Americans who
displayed remarkable courage while making the ultimate sacrifice.
The Cold War Submarine Memorial, the enduring tribute to the dedicated men & women
who served in our naval submarines during the Cold War from 1947-1989.
The Vietnam Experience Exhibit featuring components that simulate life during wartime in a
"Brown Water Navy" support base and a U.S. Marine Corps artillery fire base during the Tet
Offensive and the Battle of Khe Sanh in 1968.
This was a tremendous opportunity and experience the scouts were afforded to learn of our
courageous military heritage.
The Moose was organized in the late
1800’s to provide
support to its’ members in the form of a
Fraternal Organization. Members joined
the Moose to first
provide help to its’
members, then to
others in need. This
is a chance to show
what we are as a
Moose Lodge.

Trivia Night
What position did the last five Heisman trophy winners 1251993
play? What was Jackie Kennedy's maiden name? What President created NASA? If you knew the answers to these and other
questions, you and your team could be on their way to winning
a few dollars ($50 first place and $25 second) at Trivia
night. Meeting twice a month on Thursdays at 7:00 Dawn
Ozmore leads her team to try to stump participants. Most
months we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday but check the calendar to make sure as holidays can impact that. Sometimes
Dawn likes to play and hands the lead over to Julie Andrews or
Darrell Johnson. There's no cost to play and there's lounge food available as well as
drinks. Where else can you play a mental game while enjoying your favorite beverage? Even if you don't win you're guaranteed a great time. If you're alone we'll find a team
for you to join and otherwise there's no limit on the number of participants.
Thursday, February 12, and Thursday, February 26 at 7pm, in the social quarters. Come
early, grab your table and order up some delicious food and refreshing drinks! Cash prizes,
gift give-aways and moosebucks are waiting for you!
No team? No problem! We have plenty of people you can share a table with! Just come out
and have FUN. There is no cost to play, and all materials are provided.
