February 2015
Message from Margaret ….
I am delighted to welcome Oli to Crocodiles. I welcome Karen O’Neill to Kingsdown; she is working in Elephants.
The class photographs for this year are now displayed on the corridor wall outside the hall.
Whether this year your child has an Education Health Care Plan Conversion meeting, or an Annual Review Meeting you
will receive a periodic evaluation of their progress towards the agreed outcomes. The first will be sent approximately 13
weeks after the meeting and the second after 26 weeks. The evaluations will be sent directly from the teacher.
Winter has certainly arrived with temperatures in the morning as low as -5 degrees. Please ensure your child wears warm
clothes as many of the children go outside at play and lunch time and children can become very cold getting on and off the
bus. Also it is advisable for children to have spare clothes in school in case the clothes they are wearing get wet or dirty. As
always please ensure you put your child’s name in their clothes.

On Sunday 18 January 17 of our pupils attended a wonderful party at the Grosvenor Hotel in London. There were many
activities during the day which included face painting, marching bands, carnival dressed characters, face painting,
dance groups and party food. The day was financed and organised by the
London Taxi Drivers’ Fund. Kingsdown received invitations via Access
Anyone. I would like to give many thanks to Access Anyone, Donna and all
the Kingsdown staff who volunteered to support this day.
Dates for the Diary
Although our present sensory room looks very good it really is no longer
appropriate for the needs of the pupils at Kingsdown. With the aim to rectify
this, Toni and Yvonne have devised a new layout for the room which will cost
the large sum of £35,000. I am delighted that the PTA has agreed to
contribute £15,000 much of this money was raised by the 2014 Colourthon.
Leigh Lions have pledged an additional £1,500 and the governors have
agreed that the remaining money will be paid from the school fund. A huge
thank you to everyone who took part in the Colourthon as the children will
gain greatly from the new room. The aim is to have the improvements in
place by April 2015.
