Come join our Wahoo’s
swim program!
The Wahoo’s is a fun learning experience that provides children with the foundation they will
need to become strong swimmers. The Wahoo’s are led by the Lindsey Olson, Brad Davis,
and Erin Edmondson. Their goal is to equip your children with the necessary skills to help
them become the best they can be in and out of the water.
Being a good swimmer and in turn being safe in the water is ultimately about great
technique. In the Wahoo’s program we break down each of the four competitive strokes
and do drills that target a specific skill to help swimmers feel the water and be as efficient
as possible. As we reconstruct each stroke, our swimmers gain a better understanding
of leverage and their buoyancy in the water which assists them in making each stroke as
efficient and effortless as possible. We try to simplify the process so that kids can concentrate
on what is asked while also exercising their lungs and heart. The ability for our swimmers
to concentrate on a task and demonstrate it consistently over and extended distance is a
learned skill and the discipline required to master it helps our swimmers in numerous ways in
and out of the pool. This is a process that we have refined with years of practice and research.
New to our program is Lindsey Olson, she comes from an extensive swimming background.
She qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2008 and went on to swim at the University of
South Carolina. She also has a Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Under these
three coaches your children will develop strength, stamina, coordination and character traits
such as, hard work, self-discipline, goal setting, and confidence.
The Wahoo’s will be having their first swim meet of the year on February 6th and February
13th. This will be a great time for the children to showcase their skills and have fun competing
against their teammates.

IMPACT BOSU
The concept behind a BOSU workout is to introduce instability to
an exercise so that you engage both small and large muscle groups
at the same time for a more thorough and complete workout.
BOSU Blast is all about using both sides of your body, so your
glutes, hips, thighs, upper body and core will be worked. You’ll feel
muscles kicking in that you normally don’t use. It’s an eye-opening
workout that helps strengthen parts of your body critical to almost
every kind of movement.
BOSU Blast gives you a creative and fun workout that challenges you in a lively group setting.
All fitness levels are welcome, and exercises can be tailored to your needs and abilities.

The “Active Aging” encompasses our senior and baby boomer population. Active aging is not about not
aging. It is about healthy aging and accepting who you are now while aiming for a healthier version.
It is our goal to make exercise fun, to increase awareness of the benefits of a regular exercise program,
and to encourage older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness programs offered at
Columbia Athletic Clubs. Classes have been developed to improve quality of life by improving strength,
agility, stamina and flexibility required to accomplish daily tasks. Active Aging programs also include
potlucks, luncheons, coffee breaks, educational seminars, and Game Day. For Tennis Members, we also
offer USTA Senior(55+) and Super Senior Fall League.

Focus is on alignment, flexibility, and breathing.
Power Vinyasa Yoga:
A dynamic, flowing class taught in the style of Baron Baptiste.

Pilates Bar
Barre is the latest fitness craze sweeping the nation, and now
you’ve got it right here at Columbia Athletic Club! Barre combines
Ballet, Pilates and Yoga to give you an amazing 45-minute workout
that will sculpt your legs, butt and core, scorch calories, and leave
you feeling lean and elongated. You don’t need to be a dancer to
participate. We take inspiration from dance and ballet, melding
these with fitness moves gleaned from Pilates as well as the grace
and wisdom of Yoga.
Yin Yoga:
This class is designed to stretch and lengthen the muscles of the
body. Great for athletes and yoga participants of all levels. Poses
will be held for an extended period of time, creating elongation of
muscles that we use during exericse and everyday life.

Strength, breathe and stretch all in one hour!
MELT Method:
This all-levels class uses specialized soft body rollers and small

eliminates chronic pain, improves performance and decreases
stress brought on by everyday living.
Note: In order to take the Melt Method weekly classes, you must first take an Intro to Melt
Method workshop and purchase your own MELT roller. Workshops are held every 4-6
