marrow transplant physician at the University of Alberta Hospital and Cross Cancer Institute.
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been recognized as among the
world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.
The successful candidate will take on a role as Lead for the Alberta North section of the
Alberta Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, providing oversight for allogeneic and
autologous transplants and stem cell collections. The individual will provide clinical care for
allotransplant patients, and will have opportunities to promote research, teaching and quality
improvement initiatives within the Division of Hematology.
Candidates should be FRCPC certified in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in
Hematology, and be eligible for licensure in Alberta. In addition, candidates should have prior
specialized training and clinical experience in allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
The successful candidate will be offered an appointment in the Department of Medicine, with
an adjunct appointment in the Department of Oncology. Academic rank will be based on

GP ANESTHESIA POSITION
LDMH is a 69 bed acute care community Hospital serving communities in
the Essex and Chatham-Kent catchment areas in Southwestern Ontario.
A fully-accredited Hospital, LDMH offers services in a broad range of
specialties including Medicine (Level 2 ICU), Surgery, Family Practice,
Anesthesia, Radiology, Laboratory and Nuclear Medicine, Continuing Care
and Emergency Medicine (29,000 visits per year) with an employee base
of 365 full and part time health care professionals. Patient care is managed
by family physicians and a hospitalist service and 4 internists.
Our Perioperative Services is looking for a GP Anesthetist to share duties
with three current GPAs. This surgical unit performs more than 4500
procedures per year with more than 90% being out patient services. LDMH
currently has two general surgeons, one OB/Gyn, one internist endoscopist
plus nine visiting orthopedic surgeons. In addition we support visiting adult
and pediatric dental, and plastic surgeons. The current anesthesia staff have
modern equipment, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, video laryngoscopy and utilize
ultrasound guided vascular access and regional anesthesia.
Leamington is a community of 30,000 situated on Lake Erie in the most
southern area of Canada, adjacent to Point Pelee National Park. This area has
easy access to a variety of educational and recreational facilities for people/
families of all ages. Housing in lake front, town or rural settings is available.
Ideally a candidate for this position would have unrestricted licensure by
CPSO and would be looking for a practice that involves half time (or more)
anesthesia plus family medicine or ER or hospitalist service or some other
complementary skill set.

LONG-TERM PEDIATRIC LOCUM POSITION
Moncton, New Brunswick
The Moncton Hospital, a facility within Horizon Health Network, is currently recruiting a permanent pediatrician and a long-term locum
pediatrician. Currently, the department has a complement of two neonatologists and six pediatricians. Care includes conventional ventilation
support to babies down to 24 weeks gestation, nitric oxide (NO), as well as high frequency oscillation (HFO). We also provide hypothermia
“cool-cap” therapy for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. NICU coverage is also provided by four of the pediatricians, and on-call rotation
will be 1 in 6. NICU is a recognized tertiary care service in the Province of New Brunswick.
The Moncton Hospital is a regional referral center and teaching hospital with: 3500 deliveries per year in our referral region; 18-bed NICU;
20-bed Pediatric Unit; 3-bed PICU. Options of practice include solo or group with fee-for-service remuneration.
The Moncton Hospital is a 386-bed teaching hospital centrally located in the Maritimes. Referral population includes Eastern New
Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and North-Western Nova Scotia. The city, with adjoining municipalities, has a population of more than
138,000 and was ranked as one of the best Canadian cities for quality of community life. There is also excellent availability of educational
opportunities, cultural events and recreational activities in the immediate area.
Requirements:
The Department of Pediatrics, including the Neonatology Division, requires that its members have passed the examination of the Royal
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the examination of le Collège des médecins du Québec. In circumstances where no
Canadian trained applicants are available, the Department might consider physicians with American Board certification who are able to
obtain licensure in the State of Maine, as well as Irish or UK certified physicians (MRCP/MRCPI). In special circumstances, foreign
graduates who qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick might be considered.
Remuneration:
Remuneration varies depending on the position. Standard remuneration for the permanent position is fee-for-service which is a direct
compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. No source deductions can be provided. However, under special
circumstances, with approval from the Department of Health of New Brunswick, a salaried model may be available at a minimum of
$216,736 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience. The locum position is remunerated
based on a salaried model as mentioned above.
