The St. Mark’s Story
Rosary Makers
“Creating Rosaries at St. Mark’s allows me
to put my faith in action,” shared Rosary
maker co- chair Claudia Forshey. With
their works of love, the St. Mark’s Rosary
Makers are very active! Each year these
devoted servants hand tie over 3000
Rosaries which are then donated locally
and through missions in some of the most
poverty stricken areas of the world
including Vietnam, Haiti, India and Africa.
Local recipients include residents in
nursing homes and hospitals, those
attending retreats, and our own Jr High
and High School students and First
Communicants. Rosaries are even provided to the homeless who are ministered to by St. Mark’s
parishioners. The list of recipients is long, and the prayer lives touched is too. The photo below shares the
gift by the Rosary makers to Father Ben on the anniversary of his ordination.
“We all look forward to it. We gather, create Rosaries, pray for each other and for those who will be
receiving our Rosaries,” said Forshey.
At a special gathering, the group was inspired by Father Bruno and his method of Rosary making. As an
orphan, Father Bruno made Rosaries and sold them to fund his education. St. Mark’s Rosary makers are
the only group in the valley who both make and sell Rosaries. The volunteers sell Rosaries at St. Mark’s
and other parishes a couple of times each year. The proceeds from these sales fund the donated
Rosaries and allow the ministry to be self-sustaining. The St. Mark’s Rosary Makers will even repair
Rosaries, which often come to them in pieces in a baggie. The volunteers are happy to help fix your
Rosary and can even find a way to replace missing parts.
Would you like to help? St. Mark’s Rosary Makers gather each Wednesday at the church from 9am-12pm.
New members to the group are welcome, experienced members are willing to teach if you would like to
learn how to make a Rosary. If you would like to purchase a Rosary the group has them available at their
weekly meetings, or you can contact Claudia Forshey at 208 376 7603 or [email protected].

Fasting and Prayer
On Friday
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
Being Christian is not the result of an idea,
but the encounter with a living person.
--Pope Francis
What a wonderful opportunity we have to keep company with the
Real Presence of Jesus in St. Mark’s Perpetual Adoration
Chapel. Thank you to all who keep this blessed vigil.
If this is new to you, please know that you are welcome to come
inside for a visit whenever you can. If you feel called to schedule a regular Holy
Hour each week, check the schedule posted in the Adoration vestibule or
online at stmarksboise.org/adoration/ to see the most needed times. Then call
Kathy Webster at 853-5888 to put you on the schedule and answer any
questions you may have.
Kathy and other adorers are available to visit with you this weekend after each
Mass at the adoration table which is just outside the Resurrection Room.
Please stop by to say hello and get your questions answered. If you are a
regular adorer, we hope you will stop for a visit also.
Passion & Purpose for Marriage
Dr. Allen Hunt, renowned speaker and author, works with Matthew Kelly
at Dynamic Catholic. We are pleased that he will be here at St. Mark's
Friday, February 20th to give us his insights about what makes a
marriage great. With humor, music and poignant truth, Allen shares his
and his family's conversion story and answers those all important
questions, what do men want, what do women want and what is the
most important word in a marriage. Whether you've been married briefly
or for many years, we are all called by God to be the best versions of
ourselves, and the best spouses for our mates. Give your Valentine the
best gift yet: attend Passion & Purpose for Marriage with your spouse
and grow in your love for God and for each other. Tickets on sale after
Mass or in the office for $25 each. Babysitting is available on a limited
basis.
Please join us this Wednesday
for fasting and prayer for
for married couples.

World Meeting of Families
Even if you are not able to attend the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia in September, you can prepare yourself to participate from a distance by informing yourself about the topics that will be addressed.
Chapter 3, of Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive, which is the preparatory catechesis for the World
Meeting of Families, is titled “The Meaning of Human Sexuality.”
“The tangible, earthly, corporeal world is more than inert matter or modeling clay for the human will. Creation
is sacred and has sacramental meaning. It reflects God’s glory which includes our bodies. Our sexuality has
the power to procreate, and shares in the dignity of being created in the image of God. We need to live accordingly.
God created the whole material world out of His love for us. Everything we can see and touch, including our
male and female bodies, was created for the sake of God’s covenant. We do not always love as we ought,
but God’s pattern of love protects us and calls us back to our true natures. Marriage and celibacy are the two
ways of being together as male or female in light of God’s covenant, and for this reason both marriage and
celibacy are considered chaste ways of living.”
Please pray for the success of the World Meeting of Families, for all those attending, and for Pope Francis’
visit to the U. S this fall.

On the Ride Home
In the second reading and the Gospel for
the 5th Sunday in ordinary time: God’s
words tell us of St. Paul and Jesus sharing
the message that salvation can be theirs.
Why did the human race need salvation?
Remember the story of Adam and Eve? So
much was destroyed in Man’s relationship
with God that the only way to repair it was for God to come to earth as
a baby. Jesus the Son of God goes from village to village preaching
and driving out demons. Jesus tells people about his father’s never
ending love and care for them and how they should treat all people this
way too! We are brothers and sisters of Jesus and he wants us to
continue working the family business. What are some ways you can
help build this family business?
St. Mark’s will be holding a Lenten Family Retreat on Saturday,
February 21st from 9 am- Noon. Join Fr. Ray Donaldson, SJ as he
speaks on Ignatian Spirituality. The day begins at 8 am with Mass,
followed by a continental breakfast. There will be breakout sessions
for adults and children. The morning also includes Lenten trivia fun for
the family and Stations of the Cross. Registration forms are available
in the kiosk in the church vestibule or on our website. For more
information or to register, contact Catherine Calovich at 375-6651 or
