Bulletin - Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church

February 8, 2015 • 8:45 & 11:15 am
Pastor Ryan Boes • Luke 15:8-10
Welcome to Worship! We are glad you are with us.
Pastors John and Ryan are preaching a series about parables for the next few
weeks that invites us all to consider what the Kingdom of God is like. God invites
us into life with and for him and gives us pictures in parables that help us think
about what that life looks like. The banners hanging up front are paintings by
church member Sue Holdaway-Heys. They are based on two short parables of
the mustard seed and yeast (Matthew 13:31-33). We hope you experience the
warmth of hospitality and the grace of God this morning. Peace to you.
Following our services we invite you to join us for coffee and refreshments in
the Fellowship Hall.
Loving God, Serving People
Babies & Young Children

Responsive Litany: Bring the Message
We have a message to share with the world.
It’s Jesus! He is the good news!
God sent Jesus to the world to share the message
that “whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
When we’ve been changed by his message -when we join God’s family -- his love compels us
to share the good news of Jesus with others.
Isaiah did. When he saw Jesus’ glory,
he was eager to accept his commission.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)
God’s messengers talk about Jesus with as many people as they can.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone
who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect. (I Peter 3:15)
God’s messengers show God’s love to as many people as possible.
Jesus said, “Love one another. As I have loved you,
so you must love one another. By this everyone will know
that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
(John 13:34-35)
*Please stand if you are able.
God is still looking for people to bring the message
through their words and example.
Are you available and willing to be God’s messenger?
Heavenly Father, Jesus is the greatest news of all time.
Bless our words and the work of our hands
for the purpose of bringing your message to all people.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

GEMS Special Offering Today
Rotating Shelter Week
GEMS is an acronym for Girls
Everywhere Meeting the Savior. At
GEMS club, girls in 2nd-5th grades have
the opportunity to make new friends,
develop life skills through badge work,
learn to apply the Bible to their lives and
develop a lasting relationship with Jesus
Christ. This year’s theme is Bring the
Message, based on Isaiah 6:8; “Then
I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for
us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I, send me!’”
We know that Jesus is the Message,
the good news. When our lives are
changed by this Message, we need to
share the good news with others. This
year in GEMS we are growing and
challenging each other to say to God,
“Here am I, send me!” Our GEMS club
meets from 6:30-8:30pm on the first and
third Wednesdays of the month. We
would love to have you join us! For more
information, contact Laura Boonstra
([email protected]).
For many years our church has
supported the Shelter Association
of Washtenaw County (http://
annarborshelter.org/) by participating
in its Rotating Shelter Program, which
involves hosting 25 men who are without
a home at our church for one week.
This year our church is hosting during
the week of March 9-16. Volunteers
are needed to provide transportation,
stay overnight, and provide snacks/
meals for our guests at church. A
sign-up board will be available in the
Fellowship Hall beginning this Sunday,
and we encourage you to prayerfully
consider how you can participate in this
ministry to our community. If you have
questions or would like more information
please contact Todd Redder (tredder@
limno.com) or Scott Stephenson
([email protected]).
