Letter from the Administrator:
Alexandra Maliwacki
We are very excited to share that we have
partnered with Pulmonary and Sleep of
Tampa Bay, a medical group, providing
comprehensive and innovative treatment
for pulmonary diseases to conduct a 90 day
trial of their program here at Greenbriar to
a select few patients that fit a higher risk
category.
Their physician, Dr. Zanchi, will be using
telemedicine/remote monitoring technology to offer an
innovative way to deliver medical care to this select group of
patients at a time when the attention is needed most.
Selected residents will be connected to a monitoring system that
will be linked to a doctor’s personal device and send an alert if
something changes in their status.
The physician will then have the ability to video-conference with
the nurse and the patient to provide remote interventions to
avoid a possible unnecessary hospital and to consult on alternate
interventions.
We are very excited to be exploring this service as we are the first
facility in the area offering this!

Kim & Zeta Upsolion provide Christmas Gifts
By: Deborah Cornish, Recreation Director
Kim S. was one of our members 3 years ago. She came for rehab and
has fond memories of her stay here. She never forgot us and wanted
to “give back”.
Kim is a retired teacher and her sorority, Zeta Upsolion provides
services in Manatee County. They have done a Make it, Bake it, Sew
it Auction worked with Our Daily Bread, Solve, Manatee Nursery, and
many needy families through out the county.
When Kim was here she noticed how cold a lot of our Members would get, even with
blankets. She and her sorority friends decided to get together and make colorful, easy to
wash double sided fleece blankets that would hold up wash after wash! The double layers
provide extra warmth.
To Celebrate the holidays they delivered 27 happy, colorful blankets to give to our members
on Christmas Eve. The blankets, each with it’s own theme, was specially selected for each
person’s interest. What a surprise!
A very special Thank you to Kim and the Zeta Upsolion members who purchased the fabric
and worked hard to provide us with a very special Christmas gifts that we will cherish for
years to come!
Good Vibes returns to Greenbriar! Please join us for special musical programs
on Fat Tuesday February 17th at 1:30, followed by the Madi Gras Party.
And Thursday February 26th at 10:30

Rehab News
By: Katheryn Pratt
The rehab department here at Greenbriar decided to give for the Christmas holiday instead of exchanging gifts with one another.
We pooled our resources to give to a family in need. We partnered with Debbie Craft, Rehab Director
Increasing Joy Ministries to identify a family. After obtaining a wish list
we went to work. We were able to fulfil just about all of the wishes presented by the family.
The family gave us a card of gratitude. The gifts included a new twin sized bed and 2 bicycles. We grew stronger as a department and as individuals through giving.
We are thankful to Greenbriar for allowing us to give to others in varied ways.

Go Red for Heart Month
By Tori Couch
Greystone is committed to healthy,
worthy and impactful causes. We are proud to
support the American Heart Association's Go
Red For Women initiative and National Heart
Month.
This February, Greystone kicks of the Go
Red Survivor Gallery, a traveling gallery of
heart issue survivors featuring Greystone's
own associates. Traveling through the Tampa
Bay and St. Petersburg area, the gallery
showcases women who have dealt with heart
attacks, arrhythmia (dangerously rapid heart
rate), and battled through heart conditions
from birth.
Many women may be unaware of
potential heart attack signs which differ greatly
from men. Often misdiagnosed, women's
symptoms include:
 Chest discomfort or upper body pain in the
back, shoulders, arms, stomach, jaw, neck
or throat
 Lightheadedness or dizziness
 Nausea or vomiting
 Inability to sleep or unusual fatigue
 Shortness of breath or trouble breathing

latest updates.
As the 2015 Go Red Tampa Bay Chair,
Connie Bessler, CEO of Greystone Healthcare
Management, is raising awareness and support
for women's heart health. "Through education
we can highlight the different ways heart
concerns can manifest themselves and
encourage better care and safety. A number
one killer of women, we must be constantly
vigilant against such a serious – and often
overlooked – health concern."
