Education Elections
Voters will choose members of the Albuquerque Board of
Education from districts 1, 2 and 4; members of the governing
board of Central New Mexico Community College from
districts 2, 4, and 6; town of Bernalillo Public School Board
members from districts 1, 4, and 5; 2 members of the Cuba
Public School Board; 3 members of the Jemez Valley Public
School Board; and Rio Rancho Public School Board
members from districts 2 and 4.
MARCH 3, 2015
Voters in the Town of Cochiti Lake will choose three
members for the Town Assembly.
JUNE 2, 2015
On Tuesday, June 2, voters will choose Directors for the Board
from districts 1, 2 and 5 of the Middle Rio Grande
Conservancy District (MRGCD).
OCTOBER 6, 2015
Voters will choose Albuquerque City Council
members for districts 4, 6, and 8.
In addition to the candidates for city council,
Albuquerque city bonds will also be on the ballot.

Your views as a voter help determine how your elected
officials may legislate on a given issue, or what kind
of policy decisions Executive officers may make. Let
your Representatives and Executive officials know what
you think. Telephone calls to the offices of legislators
have greatest impact, along with written letters, cards
and telegrams.
Emails also are useful. Be brief in your message. State
who you are and give your reasons for urging them to
act as you recommend, providing any relevant details
on the impact their actions may have on you, your
friends, or family members. If writing, include your address, and sign your name legibly. If they vote as you
wish, let them know you appreciate their decision.
Address the President of the U.S. as “The President,”
other elected officials as “The Honorable (full name).”
The salutation is “Dear Mr. President:” for the President
and “Dear (Senator, Governor, Mayor etc.) (last
name),” for other officials. The closing for letters to the
President is “Very respectfully yours.” The closing for
all the other letters is “Very truly yours,” or “Sincerely yours.”

EASTERN SANDOVAL COUNTY
ARROYO FLOOD CONTROL
AUTHORITY
The Eastern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (ESCAFCA) was established by the state legislature in 2007 to manage
watersheds and flood control in Eastern Sandoval County including
areas of Placitas, Bernalillo, and Algodones, and excluding federal and
tribal areas, for the benefit and general welfare of the population.
The first election was in November 2008. A five-member Board of
Directors was elected to staggered six-year terms. A Bond issue also
was passed in that election to fund the flood control planning and
activities of ESCAFCA.
The Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at
the Town of Bernalillo Council Chambers, 829 S. Camino del Pueblo,
Bernalillo. Changes are posted on the website.

AUTHORITY
Southern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (SSCAFCA)
was established in 1990 to oversee flood and storm water control,
and manage watersheds to protect citizens and property in southern
Sandoval County, including the Corrales Watershed and Rio Rancho.
The five-member Board of Directors is elected for staggered six year
terms. Meets third Friday of each month at 9:00 AM at the SSCAFCA

or will have reached that age prior to the next election can register to
vote. In order to VOTE in the next election, your application to register
or re-register must be received by the County Clerk at least 28 days
prior to that election.

application to the office of Bernalillo County Clerk or the Sandoval

MIDDLE RIO GRANDE
CONSERVANCY DISTRICT
The Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District is a political subdivision
of the State of New Mexico and a body corporate with all the powers
of a public or municipal corporation. Its responsibilities are providing
and maintaining flood protection and drainage, maintenance of ditches,
canals, and distribution systems for irrigation. Its boundaries extend
north to Cochiti Dam and south to the north boundary line of the
Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Voters must own
property within the benefited area of the district. The Board of
Directors, elected for 4-year terms, represents constituents from 4
counties and has one member-at-large. Meetings open to the public
are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday, usually at 6:00 PM., at 1931

Judicial vacancies are filled through gubernatorial appointment from a
list of potential nominees submitted by a nonpartisan judicial nominating
committee. A newly appointed judge must run in a contested, partisan
election at the next general election after appointment. Thereafter, the
judge runs in nonpartisan retention elections, and must win at least
57% of the vote to continue serving.
