Pinkerton counts eight student musicians in the Festival: Jillian Casavant and
Jake Hudgins for All-State Jazz Choir, Josh Gore and Solon Rawson for Jazz
Honors Choir, Alex Fellows and Tyler Seider for All State Jazz Band, and
Brandon Land and Adam Claussen for All State Honors Band.

The Academy Plan

Capping the Jazz All-State Music Festival is a concert on Sunday, February 8, at
1:00 pm in the Stockbridge Theatre. Tickets are $15 on-line at The Stockbridge
Theatre, at the Theatre box office, or at the door.
Course Night

Guidance counselors will be onhand for Course Night,
Wednesday, February 4, in the
Stockbridge Theatre and Senior
Cafeteria from 5:30 - 8:30 pm.
Current Pinkerton students and
incoming students (current 8th
graders) can explore the wealth of
opportunities available at Pinkerton
Academy: 320 courses, in all areas
of interests and levels of challenge;
in Career and Technical Education
and the regular curriculum.

Will Pinkerton Academy reclaim its 2014 title
as the of high school academic game show
champion? The new season of Granite State
Challenge starts on NH Public TV on Saturday,
February 7.
The GSC season begins with teams from NH
schools facing off in a March madness type of
series. Pinkerton’s turn takes place March 7
against Kennett High School.
Scholastic
Arts Awards
Through Sunday, February 8, visit the lobby of the
Stockbridge Theatre to see the award-winning New
Hampshire Scholastic Arts work by NH high
school students.
The display is open to the public from 9:00 am –
4:00 pm and during public events at the Stockbridge
Theatre. On Sunday, February 8th, an awards
ceremony will honor the best of the best: 12:00 pm
for grades 7-9 and 1:00 pm for grades 10-12.

College
Registration
Registration opens on Thursday, February 5 for
Destination College, the program which brings
together NH colleges and universities so
interested high school students can learn about
them all in one place.
Destination College is at Plymouth State
University on Saturday, March 14.

Haiku
Rhapsody
in Black
Month
As part of Black History Month in February, U.S.
History classes will attend Rhapsody in Black,
illustrating the creator and performer LeLand
Gantt’s personal journey to understand and
transcend racism in America.
Rhapsody in Black will be performed twice on
Wednesday, February 11: at 10:00 am in the
Stockbridge Theatre and again at 7:00 pm in the
experimental theatre of the Spaulding Humanities
Building.
For a short month, a lot
happened in February
To mark National Haiku Month in February,
the Saltmarsh Library is sponsoring a haiku
writing competition. Students can submit up to
three haikus to the library. Entries will be judged
by Pinkerton faculty members.

Seniors: Want “in” on The Academy Plan?
Under The Academy Plan, qualifying Seniors (if their schedule allows) may apply for
late arrival OR early dismissal. Check out these links to Academy Plan
Guidelines and the Academy Plan Agreement. Meanwhile, here are only some
specifics of the Academy Plan:
1. Students must already have a period A or period H study in their schedule.
2. Students will complete and sign the Agreement, as does a parent/guardian (even
if the student is 18). Forms are due to Guidance by Wednesday, Feb. 18.
3. There are academic criteria (minimum requirement).
4. Mr. Dannible and Mrs. Clute will meet with students who qualify.
