President’s Message
Hello S.I. Members,
I left Northern California on New Year’s Day after spending a few weeks
visiting with family, friends and former co-workers. I certainly do not enjoy
rush hour traffic!! I arrived at the Spotlight 29 Casino on Jan. 3rd, meeting
up with several other SI members already gathered there for the pre-rally.
We spent our time visiting, shopping and eating together. Thanks, Cora
Mondor, for the pizza treat. It was very good! Then, Robert Svitek led our
caravan into the Indio Fairgrounds for the Western Area rally. Even
though it got very chilly at night, the days were sunny. I met up with Richard Grieser, who had joined the SI chapter up in Redmond. He was so
busy putting up tables and chairs for the coffee and donuts and evening
entertainment that he wasn’t able to join the group for Happy Hour. It was
good to see him though!
We had several people stop at our table for the Chapter Fair; we had two
ladies join the group. We even got a group picture with Charlie Adcock,
our FMCA president. The chapter purchased a flag pole, which also included an American flag, and I did put it up but with just the SI banner.
This flag pole will be given to the next president (as well as lots of other
stuff) as it does belong to the SI chapter. I put our new banner on the front
of the RV so anyone walking by could see where our chapter was. The
ground was too hard for our metal prong signs to stay up! Robert Svitek
also had an SI banner on the front of his coach.
Coming up will be the SEA pre-rally and rally and then the FMCA Family
Reunion rally in Pomona. We are still in charge of the Card Bingo and
Bean Bag Toss. There is going to be a pickle ball tournament but we are
not going to be involved with that. Next up will be Martha Werre’s rally
and then the caravan to the Dance Rally followed by the International Rally in Shreveport, LA where we will have our election of new officers. I
hope to see many of you there. Be sure to check out the calendar for exact dates on these get-togethers and plan to attend them!
Safe and happy traveling to everyone!

Western Area Pre-Rally, Indio, CA
We met at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Indio, some arriving on New Year’s Day and others Jan. 3. We spent our time
visiting, shopping and eating together as well as visiting the casino. Cora Mondor treated us to pizza one day at Happy
Hour. The Happy Hours were shortened because once the sun went down, it got very chilly. Bob Svitek led the caravan of 7 coaches into the Indio Fairgrounds for the Western Area Rally. Those attending the pre-rally were Bill Dawson, Ed Ditmer, Donna Eggleston, Joanne Harnit, Carol Hinkley, Carol Klenow, Cora Mondor, Carol Preimesberger,
Donna Puckett, Margie Rodgers, Robert Svitek, Carole Tibbets, Melba Van Pelt and Allan Weidel. We also had two
guests – Bill Hamilton and Vernon Jenkins. Submitted by Margie Rodgers
Western Area Rally, Indio CA
Jan. 7-11, 2015
Robert Svitek led the caravan of 7 coaches into the Indio Fairgrounds where we were parked next to the Frustrated
Maestros, which Joanne Harnit and Carol Preimesberger arranged. It was a good spot! We spent time checking out
all the different venues after we got settled and set up. The first evening was Bingo and Margie Rodgers was one of
the winners. The Chapter Fair was held and we had a good turnout of visitors with two people joining the Singles International chapter. We even got a picture of the group with Charlie Adcock, FMCA President. The evening tournament
was very good; each night a bit different. The Frustrated Maestros entertained us each morning with their music while
we munched on coffee and donuts before going to seminars, checking out the vendors and looking at the new RVs.
Those attending the rally included Ed Ditmer, Joanne Harnit, Carol Hinkley, Carol Klenow, Carol Preimesberger, Donna Puckett, Margie Rodgers, Robert Svitek, Carole Tibbets and Melba Van Pelt. Bill Dawson, Donna Eggleston and
Allan Weidel visited on day passes.

Remembering Alaska Bob Hill
Alaska Bob Hill passed away on January
3 after a heroic battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Bob had been involved with the SI chapter for many years, holding the office of
President and National Director. He was
a founder of the Singles International
Dance rally and was active in the administration of the rally until last year. He had
a ready smile and a helping attitude and
will be missed very much. Bob and Bobbie Shiplett were in Texas when he
passed away.
