QUEENSLAND ULYSSES RV GROUP
James Sharp Park, CANUNGRA Rally
December 05-07 / 2014
With a number of our members returning from the Ulysses RV AGM at Naracoorte, Black
Cockatoo, there were many stories being shared both short and tall, good and bad but
everyone had had a great experience, seeing so
much of Oz. Sandy and Soren were on their “final
leg” of around our great island and quite
apprehensive about returning home and back to
the daily grind. Many looking forward to the 2015
AGM Event at Cobar. For the James Sharp Rally
the weather was intent on chasing members away,
if it was that there was no power to boost the odd
air conditioner due to the summer heat or be it the
forecast for a wet weekend. With cloudy skies the
generators came out and kept the essential
electrics running. For those who did not fear a
challenge it turned out to be a top rally with our
members looking forward to the coming Christmas
with friends and relatives and the prospect of more

adventures in 2015.
Travels
James Sharp on the Coomera River is a wildlife area boasting
many varieties of birds and the occasional platypus in the
local waterway. Even though the weather was at times quite
wet, a campfire and sing-a-long evening was enjoyed by all.
Friday night was an excursion in the local Canungra Courtesy
Bus to the Pub for tea with many of us wearing our club green
shirts. The meals were delicious and local musicians
entertained in the bar.
Saturday Craft Activity had been coordinated by Di and
Margaret and had the ladies making

ornaments.
While the ladies were occupied and quietly hoping that the
“gentlemen” might make the morning coffees the “Mr Fix-Its”
went into work mode solving a range of van mechanical
challenges.
We were also blessed with visits by regular members who could
not bring their RVs on the trip. From the Gold Coast, John and
Di as well as Peter and Sue called in safely secure in their tin
Campfire Sing-a-long
tops while Barry and Nobby ventured to see us on their trusty
motorcyles.
The caretakers at James Sharp had kindly set aside “The Oval” for our rigs which enabled
us to form up to enjoy each other’s company. Saturday evening was also our Pot Luck
Dinner. How amazing!- delicious food (curry was the theme of the night!), dessert, drinks and
fine company.
Looking forward to our next rally at Chinchilla for the Melon Fest, 13-15 February, 2015.
