Attention Senior Class - Tickets will be sold on Friday, February 13, during all three lunches for the Spirit of Norfolk lunch cruise in late April. To secure a ticket, please bring a check for $40 made payable to Atlee High School. The cost covers a buffet lunch and transportation to and from Norfolk. The UVA Summer Enrichment Program information serves students who are currently in 9th and 10th grade. It is a residential summer camp offered in 3 consecutive blocks: Session 1: June 21-July 2 Session 2: July 5-July 16 Session 3: July 19-July 30 While students attend only one session, UVA offers a quality learning experiences designed to cultivate interest and potential in a wide variety of fields and disciplines. Students thrive on the fast-paced environment of the classes and the stimulating fun offered by the residential counselors. Qualifying students should be identified as gifted or show high potential in academic fields or intellectual, creative, artistic and/or leadership capacities. The summer courses are taught by specialists in fields ranging from engineering and economics to linguistics and philosophy. During each twelve day session, students stay in dorms, in suites of 8 campers to one counselor on the campus of the University of Virginia. Club picture day will be held on Wednesday, February 18 all day in the auditorium. All students who participate in a club or group have been scheduled a time to report to the auditorium. Students will not be permitted to leave class or enter the auditorium without the signed Club Day Permission Sheet. Students must have a sponsor sign for each club in which they participate. Course verification forms that will require a parent/guardian signature will be sent home at two different times for review: 1. February 26 with interims with a due date of Friday, March 6 2. May 7 with interims, with a due date of Friday, May 15 if you are making any changes to your child’s courses for the 2015-2016 school year. If you would like to view your child’s course selections before the course verification form is sent home, you can view them under “Class Registration” in PowerSchool. As students register for classes for the 2015-2016 school year, please make sure to explore course offerings at the Hanover Specialty Center. The Specialty Center offers course work in public safety and healthcare, computer science and technology, and engineering. Transportation to and from Hanover High School is provided.
