GROUP EXERCISE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Barre - A class that will strengthen, tone & balance the entire body; A great fat-burning workout that integrates the use of ballet barre. (All Levels)
Boot Camp - Intense class for the person ready to take cardio outside the box! Training includes: combination of plyometics, conditioning drills,
calisthenics, & strength training utilizing body weight, free weights, cones, ladders & other conditioning drill equipment. (Intermediate to Advanced)
Chairlates - This class incorporates pilates, yoga strength & stretching exercises to strengthen & create lean muscle without building bulk. Small hand
weights are used in this chair-based class. (All levels welcome)
Children's Yoga - Children will learn the fun postures of yoga through children's stories and fun animal poses.
Core Burner - This 30 min core class will focus on developing your abs and lower back.
Kickboxing - This interval style class includes a cardiovascular workout that focuses on strengthening the upper & lower body using kicks, jabs,
plyometrics, squats, lunges, jumping jacks & some contact work with focus pads is also included! (Intermediate to Advanced)
Kids Zumba - Fun music and contagious energy makes a great way for kids ages 4-6 learn Latin dance moves, play a game or two and make friends!
Pilates - Pilates offers a focus on core stability to maintain a balanced & aligned body that looks fit, feels revitalized, & moves with ease. This class
offers a conditioning program that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength & full body toning. (All Levels)
RIP - Barbell based program for men & women of all ages. Class format caters to all fitness levels. Great music, awesome instructors & your choice of
weight, inspire you to get the results you came for. A plateau proof fitness formula! (All Levels)
Step - High energy step class which integrates powerful step combinations; a fat burning workout w/fun music & energetic choreography. (All Levels)
Sweat - That's what you can expect from this workout, SWEAT and lots of it! A true interval class offering 1 intense minute of high energy cardio,
followed by 1-minute of strength, and 1-minute of ab-producing core work. Take a 30-second recovery and hit it all again. (Intermediate to Advanced)
Total Body Conditioning - Serious full body conditioning workout utilizing free weights to completely shape your body into performance! This class
whips your body into shape & builds strength, which is critical in building bone density. Guaranteed to Make You Sweat!! (All Levels)
Will Power & Grace - Dynamic fusion of the most popular & effective group fitness classes. No equipment needed. Taught barefoot, easy to follow, &
infused with a positive, strengthening philosophy. For newcomers and seasoned athletes. Develop ankle, knee & hip stabilization which facilitates
good movement & prevents injury. The cardio segment is a fusion of calisthenics, dance principles & functional training drills. (All Levels)
Y Cycle - Group cycling is an unmatched way to make your fitness goals a reality. With no complicated moves to learn, you’ll have a blast riding your
way to a leaner & stronger body through a motivating group environment & music that begs your legs to pedal. New riders, please arrive early for bike
set-up help. (All Levels)
Zumba® - Zumba® is a fusion of Latin, International music & dance themes creating a dynamic, effective & fun fitness system. Zumba® uses interval
training principles by combining fast & slow rhythms to tone & sculpt the body. (All Levels)
Zumba® Gold - A lower intensity class designed for active older adults & new participants to the Zumba® program. (Beginner to Intermediate)
YOGA AT THE YMCA
Hatha Yoga - A physical form of Yoga practice that brings health & mental
well-being; cultivates flexibility, strength, and balance; Invites deep relaxation.
We have a variety of Hatha Yoga classes at the Y. (All levels welcome)
Gentle Yoga - Emphasizes a softer and more individualized form of posture.
Vini Yoga is widely associated with the therapeutic application of yoga poses
and is characterized by slower movements and use of props to facilitate
comfort and increase range of motion. (All levels welcome)
Moderate Yoga /Yoga With Weights - Slightly more challenging form of Vini
Yoga focusing on slow movements, use of props, and with addition of light to
moderate dumbbells for muscle strengthening. Poses may be more challenging
as participants typically have a basic concept of Yoga postures. All levels Still
Welcome.
Power Yoga - Form of yoga involving your own body weight to move through
muscle strengthening poses. Modifications available for all levels.
Yoga for Vets - Yoga class is geared toward military veterans of all ages. It is
a gentle/moderate class including yin yoga styles. Participants with PTSD (Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder) are encouraged to come.
Restorative Yoga - In restorative Yoga, props are used to support the body to
help hold poses longer allowing you to open your body through passive
stretching. Postures are usually seated or supine yoga poses using blocks,
bolsters, and blankets to eliminate unnecessary straining.
Vinyasa Yoga - Rejuvenate & energize in a Flow Yoga class that combines
dynamic breath work, continuous movement, & deep holds while in postures.
Carefully sequenced classes link breath to movement & are appropriate for
beginners & more advanced students. (All Levels)
Yoga Postures - Develop stillness of mind & create a deep body awareness
focus & alignment while in yoga posture. Props, no flow. (All Levels)
