Christians, too, are called to “do everything for the glory of God.” In today’s scriptures Paul reminds us that the best way for us to glorify God is to seek to benefit “the many,” as Christ did when he shed his blood for all of humankind. The reading from Leviticus explains one way the Jews sought to benefit the many, by keeping lepers and leprosy away from the chosen people. Jesus finds a better way. He cures the leper, who immediately re‑enters the community to spread the good news about Jesus to everyone who will listen. In this way both Jesus and the leper fulfill their calling to glorify the God who fills us “with the joy of salvation.” Wednesday, February 18 Ash Wednesday; Fast and Abstinence 6:30 AM John Cooney 10:00 AM Prayer Service 6:30 PM Thursday, 7:00 AM February 19 Frank Arnold, Jr. Friday, 7:00 AM February 20 Frank Fortino Saturday, February 21 St. Peter Damian 9:00 AM Robert Gownley 5:00 PM Deceased Members of Ganley Family Sunday, February 22 First Sunday of Lent 7:00 AM Jo– Ann Heilferty Verrier 8:30 AM Vietnamese Mass 10:15AM Bernard Patrick Shearlds, Jr. 12 NOON Spanish Mass The New Poor Boxes located within the Upper Church are designated for the People of the Parish who are in need.
