NEWS WINTER GARDEN YOU CAN USE February 2015 GARDEN THEATRE LIVE SEASON Life on the Trail Exhibit On display February 16 through April 17 The City of Winter Garden presents Life on the Trail Art Exhibit, the current Art in Public Places exhibit in City Hall. Original renderings of local artists’, of different ages, interpretations will cover the walls of City Hall Lobby. The exhibit includes over 25 pieces of art in various mediums and processes. These diverse and colorful pieces portray everyday life on the West Orange Trail, from biking and running to scenery and sunsets by the trail! 5th Annual JCCF Charity Golf Tournament The Jimmy Crabtree Cancer Fund will be hosting its 5th Annual Golf Tournament to raise funds that will assist with medical expenses for young cancer stricken families in our area. This event sold out early last year so consider pre-registering at the website below. The public is invited to attend the tournament as well as a pulled pork dinner and Silent Auction. The dinner is served to the golfers, guests and the public beginning at 5:30 pm with a donation to JCCF. SUMMER DAY CAMP COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is specifically designed to develop the skills needed to be a positive leader and role model in the summer day camp. CIT’s will be given a behind the scenes glimpse at camp planning, policies and administration. Each CIT will be assigned to work with a specific group in the summer day camp, and through hands-on experience, will work side by side with the camp counselors and Camp Director. Using a first follower approach participants will have a chance to explore leadership opportunities in a camp setting, responsibilities involved in working with children and fun team building activities. Limited space is available. In order to be eligible for this program, interested participants must complete an application and interview. Applications will be available beginning February 16 and must be returned by March 13. The exhibit also marks the 50th anniversary of the great strides made in 1964 and 1965 with the passage of both the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.
