A Word from Fr. Rocks. . .
"Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant
for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for
every good work" (2 Cor. 9:6-8).
I ask that we all ponder again these words, spoken by the Holy Spirit through the pen of St.
Paul. I ask this because we have begun the House of Charity Bishop's Annual Appeal. I thank
you for your patience with viewing the video and the pledging.
As mentioned, our goal is $93,263.55. If we all contribute what we are able this goal will be
made. Let us not be afraid to sow bountifully, that is generously. It was mentioned in the
video the importance of asking: "Am I being as generous as I can be"? For some this will be a
big gift and for some a smaller gift. The point is to give what you able because every gift will
help someone in our area who needs assistance.
Generosity is measured not so much by the amount but by the willingness and cheer by which
is done. Recall the widow's mite (Luke chapter 21). The widow gave more than the others due
to the love which motivated her. May such love motivate each of us.
Last year we made our goal. This was done with only 300 families contributing. We are more
than 300 families in this parish. I ask that if you have never given to the House of Charity before, or perhaps it has been awhile, please consider making a gift this year; the pledge cards
will be out all month and can be given to Father after Mass or placed in the collection basket.
My brothers and sisters let us sow bountifully so as to have a blessing of abundance from God,
our Father. Particularly the blessing of a heart filled with an abundance of joy and love.

There is no obligation to fast. However, voluntary acts of self-denial are recommended.

These are days of Fast & Abstinence from meat.
There is a limit of one full meal on these days

All who have reached their 14th year are bound

Easter Duty Obligation:
After they have received their First Holy Communion, Catholics are bound by the obligation

l Vía Crucis consiste en recordar con amor
y agradecimiento lo mucho que Jesús sufrió por salvarnos del pecado. Se trata de un
camino de oración que busca adentrarnos en la
meditación de la Pasión de nuestro Señor Jesucristo en su camino al Calvario. Durante la
Cuaresma, nuestra comunidad de fe se reunirá
para rezar las Estaciones del Vía Crucis todos

“Consideren esto: el que siembra poco, poco cosechará; el que siembra en abundancia, también cosechará en abundancia. Cada uno debe dar según lo haya decidido en su corazón, sin tristeza o compulsión, porque Dios ama al que da con alegría. Dios les concederá toda clase de bendiciones en
abundancia, para que tengan siempre lo necesario y además les sobre para ayudar en toda clase de
buenas obras” (2 Corintios 9:6-8).
Una vez más, quisiera que todos reflexionemos a cerca de estas palabras que nos fueron dichas por
el Espíritu Santo a través de la pluma de San Pablo. Les pido esto porque hemos comenzado la
Campaña Anual de la Casa de la Caridad. Les agradezco que hayan sido tan pacientes la semana
pasada con la visualización del video y la solicitación de fondos.
Como lo mencione anteriormente, nuestra parroquia tiene una meta de $93,263.55. Si todos contribuimos con lo que podemos vamos a alcanzar esta meta. Tratemos de no tener miedo a sembrar en
abundancia, es decir, generosamente. En el video se mencionó la importancia que tiene el preguntarnos ¿estoy siendo tan generoso como puedo ser? Algunos podrán hacer una donación más grande mientras que otros podrán hacer una más pequeña. Lo importante es donar lo que podamos,
porque poco o mucho, cada donación ayudará a alguien en esta zona que necesita asistencia.
La generosidad se mide no tanto por la cantidad sino por el deseo y la alegría que nos lleva a ser generosos. Recuerden la ofrenda de la viuda pobre (San Lucas capítulo 21). La viuda dio más que todos porque lo poco que tenía lo daba con amor. Ojalá que cada uno de nosotros este motivado por
ese mismo amor.
El año pasado hemos alcanzado nuestra meta. Esto se logro con la contribución de tan solo 300 familias. Nuestra parroquia está compuesta por más de 300 familias. Le pido que por favor si usted
nunca hizo un donativo a la Casa de la Caridad, o quizás hace mucho que no lo hace, considere
hacerlo este año; las tarjetas de solicitación estarán a su disposición en los bancos de la iglesia durante todo el mes y las mismas pueden ser entregadas directamente al Padre después de la Misa o pueden ser depositadas en la canasta de la colecta.
Hermanos sembremos en abundancia para que podamos recibir abundantes bendiciones de Dios,
nuestro Padre. Particularmente la bendición en abundancia de un corazón lleno de amor y alegría.

ARMANDO CON EL PADRE ARMANDO
Limpios o Sucios
a primera vez que recuerdo haber escuchado hablar de la lepra fue leyendo la Biblia. La lepra es
un símbolo que nos habla del pecado. El leproso es una representación del pecador. En el relato
del evangelio de este domingo hay un primer momento, en que al leproso se le separa para que no
contagie. Si observamos bien, Jesús está ausente en este primer momento; de hecho es el mismo leproso quien se le aproxima. Hay un segundo momento, en el que Jesús lo cura y el leproso se incorpora a la convivencia con los demás. Uno se pregunta si, demasiadas veces, no vivimos solamente
en la primera etapa, rechazando a los que no deseamos para que "no nos contaminen", ya que no los
incorporamos a nuestros grupos, por considerarlos indignos de ello.
Según la primera lectura bíblica de este día, existen normas en el pueblo judío para distinguir y separar al leproso. La lepra era considerada como una enfermedad contagiosa y por ello creían necesario separar a los leprosos. Todavía, la lepra se veía como consecuencia de un castigo por pecados
contra la pureza.
El pecado, el mal que hay en el hombre, también lo juzgamos contagioso. Pero no es posible separar
al pecador, porque todos somos pecadores (A juicio de San Juan, "el que dice que no tiene pecado es un
mentiroso" y añade Jesús: "el diablo es el padre de la mentira"). No podemos juzgar, no podemos condenar. No podemos separar. La primera enseñanza que hallamos en el evangelio de hoy es que ser
buen cristiano no es condenar o separar, sino que el buen imitador de Jesús siente el deber de curar,
de liberar. Para ello, como hizo Jesús, hay que extenderles la mano, tocarlos, compartir su vida; o
mejor dicho, permitirles que puedan compartir nuestra vida cristiana.
El principal paso consiste en solidarizarnos con los pecadores, impuros, leprosos. Por ello, cada vez
que nos reunimos para celebrar el memorial de Jesucristo, empezamos reconociéndonos todos pecadores. No pedimos "por los pecadores" sino "por mí, pecador." Sin este primer paso, sin este inicial reconocimiento de lepra colectiva, no hay posibilidad de seguir adelante.
Tenemos dos tentaciones: la de la sociedad hipócrita que divide a los hombres en puros y no puros,
excluyendo a quienes considera malos de la convivencia de los buenos. La otra tentación es la de la
indiferencia, que todo lo considera igual, sin bien ni mal; es la tentación del escepticismo, que no
cree que valga la pena luchar contra todo mal. Jesús no excluye a nadie. Tampoco deja el mundo
igual. Lucha contra el mal, porque ama al hombre, a cada hombre, a cada pecador.
Este evangelio nos debe ayudar a comprender sin juzgar a todo hombre, por más "pecador" que parezca ante nuestros ojos, sabiendo que todos compartimos la realidad de esta carne mortal, de pecado; en otras palabras, necesitamos luchar contra todo mal, ayudar a superarlo, ser intransigentes
contra cualquier pacto, que no distingue entre bien y mal, entre verdad y mentira, entre justicia y
opresión, etc.
