HEALTHY COOKBOOKS

HEALTHY COOKBOOKS
Healthy eating for people with diabetes is no different to healthy eating for all people.
Foods that are lower in saturated fat, higher in fibre and have a lower Glycemic Index (GI)
are best for everyone. The cookbooks listed below are suitable for people with diabetes, as
well as their family and friends.
The cookbooks listed under General Healthy Eating are not diabetes specific but may still
provide suitable healthy eating advice and recipes. They may also be useful for people
concerned about preventing type 2 diabetes (e.g. those with pre-diabetes).
If you have diabetes, it is important when deciding if a recipe is suitable to ensure that you
check the total carbohydrate content of the meal, as this is what will have most effect on
blood glucose levels. It is also important to look at the fat content and ensure you choose a
recipe lower in fat if you are trying to lose weight.
