Jayson was born February 3, 1971 to
Harvey J. and Donna W. (Froman)
Chauvin. He graduated from Missouri
Western state university with an
Associate’s Degree. He worked as a
manager in the food service industry.
He was survived by his mother, 2 sisters Cozette Chauvin of st. Joseph, and
Tammy Cox of Kansas City, MO; a
brother, Ben Chauvin of Olathe, Ks,
and 6 nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his father.

13. 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe

Helen Marie Decker, 90, of st. Joseph,
passed away sunday, February 8, 2015
in st. Joseph.
Helen was born August 30, 1924 to
John and Edna spillman in st. Joseph.
On February 22, 1943 she married her
husband of 65 years, Howard Decker,
who preceded her in death in 2009.
Helen worked as a Dental Assistant for
Dr. H.W. Fricke for many years. she
was a Christian and a member of st.
Joseph Restoration Branch.
Preceding her in death are her parents,
her husband Howard, two sisters and
one granddaughter.
she is survived by a son, Ted Decker
and his wife Malinda; daughter, Dee
Gach and her husband Ben, all of st.
Joseph; 7 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Harold spillman and
several nieces and nephews.

Robert "Bob" W. Derc 77, of saint
passed away Thursday,
Joseph,
February 12, 2015 in a saint Joseph
hospital.
He was born October 4, 1937 in st.
Joseph, son of Lucy and Frank Derc.
He graduated from Christian Brothers
High school (1954) and entered the
u.s. Navy serving during the Korean
Conflict.
He married Carol scott on October 30,
1961 and they shared 53 years together.
He retired from the u.s. Postal
service as a Mail Carrier. He was
active in Boy scouts, and coached girls
softball for his daughters. He taught
Hunter safety at Missouri Dept. of
Conservation for many years. He was
a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church, a former member of
st. Patricks Catholic Church, the
Knights of Columbus Council # 571,
and a 4th degree Knight. He was also a
member of the American Legion.
Bob was preceded in death by father,
Frank J. Derc, mother, Lucy Mae
Yurkewitz, and a sister, Vicki Pierson.
survivors include wife, Carol Derc of
the home, three daughters, Pamela
West, Rebecca Bright, and Lori Derc
all of st. Joseph; 6 grandchildren,
Tyler (Ashley), Megan (Dustin),

Frankie Lee Graves 82, of st. Joseph,
passed away Monday February 9, 2015
at his home.
He was born July 1, 1932 in st.
Joseph, son of Nellie & Richard
Graves.
He worked at seitz & Armour Co. as
a Bacon Press operator for many years.
He served in the u.s. Army during the
Korean War. He was a former member
of the 4-F Flat Head Club, he enjoyed
playing bingo, going to garage sales,
fishing, playing poker, keeping tabs on
the neighborhood and playing practical
jokes.
Frankie was preceded in death by his
parents, six, sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by wife, Dorothy L.
Graves of Highland, Ks, two sons, Joe
(Wendy) Graves of st. Joseph, and
Eddie (sis) Dykes of st. Joseph, several grandchildren & great grandchildren,
a sister, Roxy Harshbarger of Everett,
WA, several nieces, nephews & friends
and his caregiver Crissy Williams and
her son, Lane, of the home.
Mr. Graves was cremated under the
direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

school in 1940.
As a young adult, she attended PlattGard Business College, resided at the
st. Joseph YWCA and worked at
Westab.
she married Warren Gutteridge on
June 3, 1950 and enjoyed her years as a
homemaker. Warren preceded her in
death on February 22, 2009.
she was an excellent cook and loved
gardening and feeding birds in her
yard. she enjoyed the simple things in
life and treasured her many trips to

MARJORIE A. HEINz
1915 - 2015 | Age 99
Marjorie Ada Carpenter Heinz was
born on December 11, 1915 to Robert
and Bessie Lillibridge Carpenter at
their home northeast of Helena, MO.
she graduated from Helena High
school in 1933. Marjorie also graduated from Northwest Missouri state
university in Maryville where she
received a Bachelor of science Degree
in Education. she taught the elementary grades for 33 years. In Andrew
County she taught at the Bethel,
Breckenridge, and Helena schools and
at the Frogge school in Buchanan
County. The last 19 years were at
Humboldt school retiring in 1976.
On December 23, 1945 she was married to Floyd Heinz. To this union,
Curtis Marlowe was born June 30,
1947.
Mrs. Heinz was a member of the Faith
united Methodist Church in Cosby
where she was a pianist for over 50
years. she was also a member of the
united Methodist Women, the Retired
Teachers Association of st. Joseph, a
Life Member of the Retired Teachers
Association of Missouri, the Missouri
state Teachers Association, and she
was a Life Member of the Missouri
Branch of the National Congress of
Parents and Teachers.
Marjorie was preceded in death by
husband Floyd who died in October
1991, son Curtis Marlowe who died in
February 1969, father Robert Louis
Carpenter, mother Bessie Fay Carpenter; sister Mary Louise Clark, 2
nephews Daniel Clark and Charles
Brosi.
survivors include a sister, Lena Lucile
Brosi-Carpenter; three nephews,
William Brosi, Norman Brosi, John
Clark and a niece Diane Harper. There
are also several nieces and nephews
from the Floyd Heinz family as well as
