Weekly BLAST - Sycamore Presbyterian Church

Weekly Email BLAST, February 20, 2015
Sycamore Vision 20/20
As a continuation of openness and transparency regarding
Sycamore Vision 20/20, a Kiosk will be staffed in the cafe area
after each worship service by members of Session and/or the
Sycamore Vision 20/20 committee. The purpose is to have leaders
available to discuss any thoughts, questions, or concerns that
members of our church family may have as the plan moves
forward.
Your leadership, with input from the congregation and committees,
has prayerfully considered the ideas, approaches, and enrichment
to our programs and services to better serve God and strengthen
the Christian fellowship within Sycamore Presbyterian Church.
We welcome hearing more from you.
To Our IHN Volunteers...
Thank you!!!
The IHN Core Team wishes to thank all the volunteers who helped
make our recent rotation week a success. The guests really
enjoyed the delicious food and the company of the hosts. Barb
Davis, Peggy Jacobs, and Judy Page were there every evening to
welcome the parents and to interact with the children (three
teenage boys and four little ones). Sycamore is blessed with such
a dedicated group. Also, you should know that all leftover food
from the week was picked up by MaryLou Horn and distributed to
local folks in need of food. Absolutely nothing goes to waste from
an IHN week. Look for us again in May.

Nursery/Toddler Care - Volunteers Needed...
During Church Services at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m.
Please consider volunteering at 9:15 a.m. in the nursery or at
10:45 a.m. in either the nursery or toddler room. We are looking
for people who can commit to one Sunday per month and who
love children. If interested, contact Julie Smith at
[email protected]. Thank you!
Clothing Donations:
As our volunteer resource is no longer able to do pickups, SPC is
no longer able to accept clothing donations. Please do not drop
off any items at the church, or place anything in the closet near the
Chapel. For the best use of your donations, please contact
Matthew 25 Ministries, your local Drop Inn Center, Red Cross, the
Salvation Army, or Goodwill Industries, and ask how you might
donate clothing to them. People in need will truly appreciate your
generosity and efforts. Thank you.
Medical Equipment for Church Members:
The Medical Response Team has clean, gently used medical
equipment, such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, etc. available for
loan. If in need or you have additional questions, please contact
Nancy Roell at 489-1215 or Doug Gausmann at 683-8814.
Usher Volunteers:
Please consider volunteering as a Sunday usher. It is a great way
to serve the church while getting to know the members and visitors
better. If you are interested in joining the 9:15 a.m. Sunday usher
team, please contact Rhett Francisco, usher chairman, at
[email protected]. Thank you!
All Veterans and Families of Active Duty Military

and where they served or are serving. Their addresses and phone
numbers would be helpful as well. Thank You!

Lent is a season of Renewal. We remember the sacrifices Jesus
made for us and prepare ourselves for new life. As you reflect on

you explore the meaning of Lent. There are calendars for both
adults and for families with children. Pick them up in the Café or

Lenten Study on the Disciples
Adult Ministries will be offering a Lenten study "Watching the
Disciples: Learning from Their Mistakes" This small group
discussion group is similar and related to the Sermon Series about
the disciples and how we can be better disciples in our own lives.
The Lenten study examines the 12 Disciples in their on-the-job
training to become disciples of Jesus. We hope to find guidance
for our pilgrimage and help us to assess our own discipleship.
Join us as your schedule allows! It starts February 22, Sundays at
9:15 a.m. in Room 120 with Steve Helterbridle or 10:45 a.m. in the
Manse with Wendy Grethel.
Also, sign up if you would be interested in Wednesday Evening 78:00 p.m with Missy Iannelli starting February 25.
Adult Opportunity: Beginning March 1, you will have the
opportunity to learn of the great depth of God's love and mercy as
you see it continually offered to people who often do not
appreciate it. Sound familiar? As we begin the study of the Book
of Judges, we learn not only of what the people are doing (and not
doing) in their relationship with God, but we can learn how God of
the Old Testament is vitally alive in our lives today. At 10:45 a.m.
on Sunday mornings in Room 120 (where the donuts and coffee
are!), please come and begin this exploration with some of your
other friends at Sycamore. Questions? Randy Gross
([email protected] or 513-683-6709).
Saturday StoneMason Bible Overview...
will start March 14, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 120.
What is most amazing about the disciples is that Jesus ever
selected them at all; among them were a handful of common
fishermen, a hated tax collector, and an impulsive political zealot.
Who were these men? When you take a fresh look at
the disciples, you'll be faced with a stunning fact: the men the
Savior chose were ordinary...hopelessly human...remarkably
unremarkable, but they were available and obedient to the
Master's call.
Come and join us as we study "TWELVE ORDINARY MEN", a
book by John MacArthur. This class will be moderated by Alan
Greggo and Chris Dugle. We start at 8:30 a.m. and finish at 10:00
a.m. sharp every Saturday. Donuts and coffee are served, along
with a big helping of fellowship and fun. All men, sons, fathers,
grandfathers, youth...etc. are invited to join. Book and workbook
provided for $27.
Please sign up on the sheet provided in the Café. If you have
questions, feel free to email Alan Greggo at
[email protected].
"The Life of Jesus, A Study of the Gospels" (a women's small
group study) with Rev. McClanahan meets on Wednesdays at

Linda McClanahan at [email protected].
**Childcare available upon request.
Dinners for 6, 7, or 8 - Please see the guest/host chart in the
Café for March's information.

following the second service. They meet in the Café first to decide
on a restaurant. All singles are welcome!!
