 DE wrestling won their 3rd straight District 1 Central title with 179 pts, clearing
the 2nd place team by over 60 points. We had 6 champions, 4 bronze
medalists, and two 6th place finishes. We will advance 10 wrestlers to next
weekend's regional tournament at Oxford HS. Congratulations!
 The Julia Kivlin Volleyball Tournament will be held at Downingtown East on
Friday, March 13, from 5:30 to 10pm. Enter a team and have some fun while
raising money for the CHOP Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research.
Each team can have 6-10 players ($5/player) with NO MORE than 2
Downingtown East volleyball players/team. Team signups will be in the
cafeteria during lunches at both Downingtown East and STEM on March 9, 10,
11. Each member of the winning team will get a WAWA gift card. We hope to
see you there!
 Due to the unfortunate circumstance of the close of business of the Senior
Portrait Photographer, we have found that there are seniors who were unable
to place orders for senior portraits. As such, we have made arrangements for
Lifetouch to photograph our current seniors on Tuesday, February 24, 2015
beginning at 3:00 pm. Lifetouch will provide a free sitting which includes a
formal yearbook picture, Cap and Gown picture, as well as an outfit change
such as sporting gear or band uniform. Proofs will be sent to all families
photographed, on-line access will also be provided to review images and make
purchases. All students interesting in taking or retaking senior photos MUST
sign-up for a time slot at https://www.formsite.com/dasdadm/SeniorPortraits/index.html. Please be advised that pictures in the actual
Yearbook have already been taken and submitted for printing and cannot be
changed. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Bernard.
 Any girl interested in playing DEHS lacrosse this spring, there will be a
mandatory, informative meeting for parents and players on 2/25 at 6:15 in the
DEast cafeteria.
 Downingtown East is sponsoring an SAT Bootcamp at with Catalyst prep on
Saturday and Sunday, February 28th and March 1st from 9a-1p for $175. For
more information, see Mrs. Zach in the Guidance Office.
 Attention FBLA Members! There will be a meeting afterschool this Tuesday. If
you have signed up for the career fair as either an ambassador, part of the
marketing team or setup/clean up time, you MUST come to Tuesday's meeting
afterschool. We will be discussing very important details for the career fair so
make sure to be there.
 Delaware County Community College is hosting a STEM Career night on
Thursday, February 26th from 5-7:30 PM. Learn about today’s high-growth,
high-paying careers from local employers, discuss transfer opportunities with
representatives from 4 year partner schools, and learn about campus

 The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery – better known as the
ASVAB – will be given on Wednesday, March 18th, 7:30-10:30 at
Downingtown West. This is a FREE career and skills exploration test
administered by representatives from the military, but students do NOT have to
be planning to enter the military after school to take this test. Sign up in the
Guidance Office if you are interested.
 Summer programs are available to interested students- including Pre-college
programs at Ithaca College and George Washington University. For more
information on this and other opportunities, see Mrs. Zach in the Guidance
Office.
 Seniors- did you know that Scholarship information and applications are
available on Naviance? Check out the scholarship list on the “Colleges” tab of
your Naviance account for access to over 30 scholarships! Any questions? See

 ATTENTION GIRLS! Save the date! Girls’ Exploring Tomorrow’s
Technology (GETT) registration is now open. This FREE program will be held
on Saturday, March 21, at Great Valley High School from 8:30 a.m. till 3:30
p.m. This event is for 6-12th grade girls, giving them a chance to meet
successful women in science, technology, engineering, art and math. Great

 Kaplan Test Prep will be hosting free last-minute prep for the April 18th ACT
and March 14th SAT exams. Cram Sessions are intensive, 90-minute online
classes taught by expert Kaplan instructors. Students will learn the most
important material to boost their SAT and ACT scores - great for students who
need just a little more prep or for those who want a refresher before test day.

 Prom dresses in good condition needed for Downingtown’s Annual Prom
Dress Sale. Please drop off dresses at the Guidance Office of any of the three
high schools. (Dresses only please…no jewelry, no shoes) Your donation will
help students in need purchase prom tickets this spring!
 Any students interested in learning more about the service academy selection
process should plan to attend Academy Day. This will be held at Valley Forge
Military Academy and College on March 14 from 9 a.m. till noon.
Representatives from all branches of the military, including the Coast Guard
and Merchant Marines, will be available to answer questions.
 Delaware County Community College (DCCC) is hosting a HANDS-ON
evening in our Allied Health Simulation Lab on March 11, 2015, at 6:00 p.m.
for anyone interested in Allied Health Careers. This event offers the unique
opportunity for participants to partake in our Simulation Lab training and be
exposed to a variety of healthcare occupations all in one evening! Attendees
will be working directly with our program directors, coordinators, and current
DCCC students to learn what it takes to be a healthcare professional. For more

 Attention SENIORS: The time has come to purchase your tickets for your
Senior Class Trip! We will be heading to Hershey Park on Thursday, May
28th to celebrate the end of your IB exams. We will leave STEM at 8:30 that
morning and return around 7:00PM. Tickets cost just $50 at our discounted
school group rate. You will have access to the entire park, the water park, and
the zoo during this day. Please return your signed permission form and $50 to
the folder outside of C115 by Thursday, March 5th so that we can order tickets.
No late forms/money will be accepted. If you have any questions, please see
