Parish Happenings
Social Ministry
Lenten Soup Suppers
Friday 2/27, 3/6, and 3/20 at 6:30 p.m.
On three Fridays during Lent, parishioners are invited
to share a simple meal of soup, and to be inspired as we
journey through this sacred season. The book for Lent
will be Prayer: Our Deepest Longing by Ronald Rolheiser,
and will be available for purchase after Mass. On Feb. 27,
Sister Mary Therese of St. Mary Star of the Sea School
will lead a reflection on the book. March 6 will be an
evening family oriented activities, and Msgr. Perkins will
be the speaker for March 20. We ask volunteers to bring
pots of homemade meatless soup. Please contact Scott
Hamilton or Steve DeLaney with any questions.
Haiti Ministry Update
Thank you to all who made our Celebration of Haitian Culture
such a success! The night went extremely well and all who
were present had a wonderful time. This was a great start, as
we discern and pray about how to proceed regarding a parish
Haiti ministry. We had a taste (literally) of some traditional
Haitian food (“griot”- roast pork, “riz avec djon djon”-rice
with black mushrooms, etc.), Haitian music (“compas” and
“troubadour”), Haitian art, Haitian architecture, pictures of
Haiti before the earthquake and Haitian dancing. We also
heard about a potential opportunity for us to join with an
Haitian organization, Sakala, that serves the poorest of the
poor in Haiti. A big thank you to our Pastor Fr. Sean Prince
for his support and encouragement, and the planning team
for all of their hard work and determination: Jim Dellavalle,
Kim Aquino, Joe and Cheryl Brackin, Moses and Molly
Lleva, and Nilsa Wilkins. Additional thanks to the Art and
Environment ministry, Beverly Amante and Parish Life,
Shelley Kelly (photographer), Bob Manlutac (DJ), Glenn
Maravillas, Susan Rueger, Stanley Baker, Vahwere and
Benny Kavota, and Sabine Starks and her cooking team.
Parish Lenten Fish Fry
Friday March 13, 5:30-6:30 pm. Choice of small $5.00 or
large $7.00 platter- includes fish, hushpuppies, side, dessert
and drink. Dine in and carryout available. Purchase tickets
after each liturgy.
Sunday Suppers
Thank you to all who help us to make the load of life, for our
guests, just a little bit lighter. Last Sunday’s meal (Feb 8) was
provided by Northhampton Presbyterian Church and we
served 133 people. All donations of time, talent and treasure
are greatly appreciated. In the upcoming Lenten season,
please be prayerful about ways that you might be able to
help serve in this very rewarding and fulfilling ministry.
Please stop by the Sunday Supper Table in the Commons
and see how you can be part of this very rewarding ministry.
