Use of e-governance can help in socio-economic development of state: Das
Ranchi : Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said
by the use of e-governance various problems could be solved
and the social and economic
development of the state can
be further pushed forward. Addressing a function organised at
the ATI here over the e-governance, Mr Das said that by the
use of IT the role of middlemen
can be restricted which will help
the poor people. "Various works
have been initiated in the area
of e-governance in the state
which can become an important
tool for establishing good governance which is the priority of
the state government," Mr Das
said adding that e-governance
was a strong tool by which government services can reach to
the people. "Our officials are
responsible and are committed
towards their job. If we use IT
than much time would not be
wasted in making the state a
developed one," he said. Speaking on the occasion Urban Development Minister C P Singh
said that people of the state
have huge expectations from
the state government.There was
a need to further bring transparency in government services
for which the officials need to
work with a positive attitude, he
said. "In today's era IT play an
important role," he said adding
that the state government would
continue to give necessary instructions to the officials and is
hopeful of their positive work
attitude. RS Sharma, Union
Secretary, DeitY said that a
majority led stable government
was functioning in the state, definetly the state can make much
progress by using e-governance.
He said that since 2005 the work
of computerisation was going
on in the state departments,
therefore much problems would
not be faced in establishing
e-governance. "First there was
a need to computserise the land
records and e-registration so
that the process of mutation is
simplified and the people have
easy access to land records,"
Mr Sharma said adding that it
could also easily in PDS system.
He said cooperative rural bank
can play an important role in
financial transactions, while
integrated check-posts would
also help in increasing revenue
of the state. The concept of digital India coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi can only
be realised by e-governance, he
added. Among those who also
spoke on the occasion included
Chief Secretary R S Gauba and
Principal Secretary of the IT
Department N N Sinha.

Ranchi : The central government is planning to set up a subsidiary of the central agricultural
bank Nabard to facilitate easy
loans for skilled rural people
either for educational pursuits
or entrepreneurship, a minister
said here Tuesday. "There is a
problem of availing loans from
public banks and the process
of loan disbursement should be
simplified," Union Minister for
Rural Development, Drinking
Water, Sanitation and Panchayat
Chaudhary Birender Singh said
here at a CII event.
The minister said after a person
acquires skills under government initiatives like the Deen
Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen
Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY),
he may find it hard to arrange
for finances, which limits the
scope of implementation of such
initiatives. The rural skilling programme DDUGKY, launched by
the Centre Sep 25 last year, aims
to train a million rural youths
aged 18-35 by 2017.
Singh said since the majority of
the problems pertain to rural
area, the subsidiary needs to be
under the Nabard which will ensure effective monitoring. "The
central government is considering this proposal and may soon
come up with the initiative to
ease the loan process," the minister said. Regarding skilling up
of the country's rural workforce,
the minister said besides the
central and state governments,
private enterprises should also
come up with initiatives. They
should help people acquire skills
by conducting programmes
aimed to provide employment
to the poor in the villages, he
added. "These star companies
(enterprises) can hire them after completing the skilling programmes," he said.
Ranchi : Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today launched
a website and a brochure for the
upcoming Food Processing Investors Summit which is scheduled to be held on April 23 and
24 here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Das said that not
only by industries that depend
on minerals, Jharkhand can also
be made a developed state by
promoting agriculture and agribased industries.
"There are
tremendous opportunities in the
area of food processing in the
state," Mr Das said adding said
that agriculture, fruits and vegetables are produced in abundant
quantity in the state by ensuring
their preservation, processing and export changes can be
brought in the lives of the rural
people. The Chief Minister said
that in the state one can also
develop food processing as an
industry. "Jharkhand was the
third largest producer of peas
and fourth largest of tomatoes in
the country, what was needed is
a market for these products," he
said. Mr Das said that during the
Vibrant Gujarat Summit various
NRIs had expressed their interest in investing in Jharkhand.
Speaking on the occasion Secretary of the Industries Department Himani Pandey said that
three ports--Paradeep, Haldia
and Kolkata are not far-away
from Jharkhand and there was an
opportunity to reach the SAARC
countries. "Organic fertilisers,
milk and milk products, forest
products, fisheries are some areas
through which we can reach new
markets," she said adding that
the summit would be a stepping
stone in this direction. Various
senior officials including Chief
Secretary Rajiv Gauba and IPRD
Secretary M R Meena were present on the occasion.
CM asks officials of sports authority to ensure proper maintenance of sporting infrastructure
Ranchi : Chief Minister Raghubar Das today asked the
officials of the Jharkhand
Sports Authority to ensure
proper maintenance of the
sporting
infrastructure
present in the state.
Addressing the executive committee meeting of the sports
authority at the project
building here, Mr Das said
that stadiums of international standards were present in the state and there
was a serious need to pay
attention towards their well
maintenance.
'The Khelgaon is a jewel
of the state and proper arrangements should be made
for its upkeep,' Mr Das said.
He also directed that apart
from sporting activities
no other functions should
be held in the stadiums of
other sporting facilities.
When apprised about police
jawans living in various flats
of the Khelgaon, he said
that separate arrangements
should be made for them.
Mr Das also directed the officials to obtain the designs
regarding water and power
supply from the companies
who have installed the facilities in the Khelgaon so that
in future they can be used
as per the need.
He also
stressed on the need to formulate separate policies for
the sportsperson of the state
who win medals in national and international level
sports meets.
During the meeting Mr
Das said that an advertisement should be given out
regarding the shops that
were constructed at the
Birsa Munda Football Stadium and priority should
be given to sportspersons
while allocating the shops.
The Chief Minister said
that meeting should be held
with the BCCL, CCL and
the DVC over maintenance
of sports hostel located in
Maithon and other sporting infrastructures. In the
meeting Mr Sukhdeo Singh,
Prinicipal Secretary of the
Building Construction Department suggested that a
sub-committee should be
formed which would look
after small repairs and other works at the Khelgaon
which was also approved by
the Chief Minister. Among
those present in the meeting included Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Principal
Secretary Finance Rajbala
Verma and Secretary Arts,
Culture, Youth Affaris and
Sports Vandana Dadel.
Maha-Shivratri celebrated with
full religious fervor in Jharkhand
Man arrested for murdering his cousin in Palamu
Daltonganj : A man was today arrested by the police in
connection with murdering
his cousin brother from Daltonganj Town Police Station
area of this district.

Prabhat Ranjan Barwar said
that the accused has been
identifed as Omprakash alias
Chotu. A country-made 'katta'
which was used in the crime
has also been recovered by
the police. On February 15,
Omprakash had shot dead
his cousin Jaipraksh Gupta
at Kandu Mohall while he
was distributing wedding invitations. The crime was executed as a result of a land
dispute which was going on
between the two for several
months, police said.
Ranchi : Maha Shivaratri is
being celebrated today across
the state with with due religious fervor as people gathered
at the various temples to offer
obeisance to Lord Shiva and
pray for the well being of their
family members. Thousands
of people of all ages today observed fast and thronged to the
temples since early morning
to offer puja. Maha Shivaratri
falls on the moonless, 14th
night of the new moon in the
'Hindu' month of Phalgun
which is also celebrated as the
wedding day of Lord Shiva and
Parvati. In the state capital a
large crowd of people including men and women of all ages
had started gathering the Pahari Mandi since early morning
to offer 'Jalabhishek' to Lord
Shiva. As the day progressed
the que at the temple became
further long. Jharkhand Chief
Minister Raghubar Das himself
participate in the 'Shiv-Barat'
which was taken out from
the Pahari Mandir. At various locations in th city social
and religious groups have put
up stalls and are distributing
'Kheer' and other refreshment
as part of welcoming the 'ShivBarat'. A report from Deoghar
which is home to the world
famous 'Baba Baidynath' said
that more than two lakh dev-
otees are expected to offer 'Jal'
to 'Baba'. People from abroad
have also gathered in this religious town to offer prayers
to Lord Shiva and witness the
'Shiv-Bharat' which is taken
out during the night. Elaborate
security arrangement have also
been made at the temple premises and at the surrounding
areas to prevent any untoward
incident. In Basukinath Dham
of Dumka, devotees too lined
up since the morning to offer
their prayers to Lord Shiva. A
large number of devotees from
neighbouring districts of Godda and Bhagalpur also gathered at the temple to offer their
prayers. Reports from other
important towns of the state
including Dhanbad, Bokaro,
Daltonganj and Chatra also
said that Shivratri was being
celebrated with full enthusiasm
by the people.
