CM calls to spread Chau Mahotsav on global platform
Ranchi : Jharkhand Chief Minister today said the Chau Mahotsav should be celebrated as
an arts festival at the state level
and its hsould remain confined
to the boundaries of Saraikela
but its reach should spread at the
world level. Chairing a meeting
regarding Chaitra-Chau Mahotsav Cum Tourist Fair at the Project Building here, Mr Das said
that by the means of the Chau
Mahotsav awareness should be
spreas about the tribal art and
culture. "Apart from organising festivals based on traditional
arts, cultural events should also
be held on other native art forms
of the state so that they continue
to remain attractive," the Chief
Minister said adding that keeping in mind the flow of tourists
adequate arrnegments hsould be
made and buses should be made
available from the neighbouring
districts. The Chief Minister said
that for the tourists as per the
tradition of the state small huts
Guv reviews progress
of restoration work
at Audrey House
Ranchi

Governor Syed Ahmad
today asked the authorities to speed up restoration work of Audrey
House.
He said that
after
the
restoration
work is completed the
house should be used
in such a manner that it
able to generates revenue. 'The revenue generated should be utilised
for its maintenance,' the
Governor said while inspecting the progress
of restoration work at
the Audrey House here.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary Building

Secretary Arts, Culture,
Sports and Youth Affairs Vandana Dadel and
Ranchi DC Vinay Kumar

the event a state level committee
should be formd for which the
deaprtment of arts and culture
should be the nodal department
and various other departments
including tourism, transpo-
ration, industries and IPRD
should extend their help. The
Chief Minister also suggested to
undertake repairs at the venue
and also asked the authorities to
take help of the local people in
preparations of the event.
During the meeding Saraikela DC presented a presentation
regarding the Chau Mahotsav
which is proposed to be held
from April 5 to April 13, 2015.
Among those present in the
meeting included Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Development
Commissioner R S Poddar, Secretary Tourism Avinash Kumar,
Secretary IPRD M R Meena and
Secretaries of the industries and
arts and culture department.
CM announces free
tablets for girl students
of Kasturba School
Ranchi : Jharkhand Chief
Minister Raghubar Das today
announced that girl students
studying in class 9th to 12th in
Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalays in the state would get free
tablets while on the other hand
34,000 teachers would be recruited in the state in the next
six months. While addressing
the concluding ceremony program of 'Bal Samagam' at Birsa Munda Football Stadium at
Morahabadi here he said that
providing quality education
to students in all the classes of
the government schools was
the priority of his state government. "After the formation
of the state for the first time
Bal-Samagam is being held
in the state, events like these
would give a new energy to the
students and also give a new
direction to the education in
the state," Mr Das said adding
that 'Bal-Samagam' should be
orgnaised every year. Remembering his childhood days, the
Chief Minister said that after
attending the ceremony he
went back to his school years
of Bhalubasa Harijan School
at Jamshedpur from where his
initial schooling was held. "For
the fromation of a prosperous
nation, quality eduction is
needed," Mr Das said adding
that education system in the
state needs to be modernised,"
the CM said adding that there
was dearth of talent in the state
only there was a need to shape
up the talent. Mr Das said that
in the next one year, the state
government would
ensure that on a priority basis
toilets, power, fan and other
basic amenities are present
in the government schools.
He also stressed on the need
of maintaining cleanliness in
the school and asked the children and the teachers to fulfill
their responsibility in this regard. The Chief Minister also
urged the people to participate in cleanliness drives in
the schools of their areas like
they do in the temples, houses and localities."The school is
also like a temple which needs
to be kept clean," he said adding that all stakeholders need
to unite to make Jharkhand
an educated state. He also appealled to the people of the
state to send their girls to
school and make them educated. The Chief Minister also
distributed prizes among the
victorious students of various
competitions. Among those
who were also present on the
occasion included Ranchi
Mayor Asha Lakra, HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik and
children of various schools
alongwith their teachers and
principals.

Decks cleared for 5th JPSC mains exam
Ranchi : The state government has given its nod to the
Jharkhand Public Service Commission to conduct the mains
examination of the fifth civil services exam. Official sources
here today said that a letter in this regard has been sent to
the JPSC by the Personnel Department. Sources claimed
that no changes would be made in the result and the mains
exam is expected to commence from June 14 onwards.
A total of 3,798 candidates were declared sucessful to appear in the main exam for 277 posts. The prelims of the 5th
JPSC exam was held on December 15, 2013 and the result
was published on February 12, 2014 and the commission
had announced June 16,.2014 as the date for conducting the
mains exam. However, after a section of students raised objection stating that the reservation guidelines have not been
followed the than Hemant Soren government of the state
called off the mains examination just two days before it was
scheduled to begin.
Seven arrested as two minors gangraped
in separate incidents in Lohardaga
Lohardaga : Two minors were gangraped under separate
locations of the Sadar Police Station area of this district,
however the police has managed to nab all the seven accused who were involved in committing these two crimes.
Police sources said that both the incidents took place late
last evening at Nadia and Basri village when both the victims
had gone out of their homes in the evening. The victim in
Nadia village is a students of class 9th and three youths have
been arrested in this connection, while in Basri village
the girl was a student of class 5th and four youths were
nabbed for the crime by a joint team of Mahila Police Station
and Sadar Police Station. Incidentally all the seven who
have been arrested in this crime are also minor boys. Police
said that the FIRs in both the cases have been lodged while
the medical examination of the girls have also been completed.
Land mines recovered in Khunti
Khunti : In a major success for the security forces 18 land
mines were recovered from Murhu Police Station area of the
neighbouring this district. SP Anish Gupta today said that the
landmines each weighing about 18-20 kilograms were recovered from the forest areas falling between Murhu and Tapkara police station areas yesterday. Later a bomb disposal
squad from Ranchi was called which defused all the bombs.
The SP said that a search operation was on in the area
during which one of the jawans spotted the wire which led to
the discovery of the landmines.
Man arrested with Rs 50,000 fake
notes in Giridih
Giridih : Police today arrested a person alongwith Rs
50,000 fake notes from Bada Chowk under Town Police
Station area of this district. The arrested has been identified
as Sehraz Ansari a resident of Phuljori village under Gandey
Poice Station area of this district. DSP Ashish Vijay Kujur
said that Ansari was involved in the business of illegal coal
trade and the fake notes have been brought from Dhanbad.
He suspected that the origin of these fake notes was from
Bangladesh.
Two sisters run over by heavy
truck in Godda
Godda : In a tragic incident two sisters died after they were
run over by a speeding heavy truck under Meharma Police Station area of this district. Police sources said that
the deceased have been identified as Nikhat Khatoon (10)
and Nijat Khatoon (7), residents of Sukahri village. The duo
alongwith their father were going on a by-cycle when a
speeding heavy truck loaded with stones hit them near
Dhamri College on the Bhagaiya-Barahaat road killing both
of them on the spot late last night. However, the father of the
girls is missing after the incident. Agitated over the incident
locals blocked traffic movement on the road but relented after
the intervention of the local administration. The driver of the
truck fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. Police
has seized the truck and registered an FIR in the case.
3 dead as anti-landmine vehicle hits
autorickshaw in Ranchi
Ranchi : Three people were killed while another three were
seriously injured when a three-wheeler (autorickshaw) in
which they were travelling was hit by an anti-landmine vehicle of the police under Chanho Police Station area of this
district. Police sources said that the accident took place on
the Pakoriya Bridge on the Daltonaganj-Ranchi road in the
evening. The injured have been rushed to RIMS. Further
probe was on.
JPCC's South Chottanagpur Divisional
workers meet held
Ranchi : The South Chottanagpur Division level workers
meet of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee meet was
today held in Gumla. In the meeting district unit heads, block
unit heads and workers from Gumla, Lohardaga, Simdega,
Ranchi and Khunti participated. Addressing the meet JPCC
president Sukhdeo Bhagat stressed on the need to further intensify the membership drive in the state and ensure maximum
participation of women alongwith the tribals, dalits and other
backward castes. 'The Congress has played an important role
during the Independence Struggle of the country and also in
building a modern India,' Mr Bhagat said adding that Congress
president Sonia Gandhi and the party played vital role in creation of Jharkhand. 'Congress party can alone protect the rights
of Jharkhand,' he said. Among those who were also present
in the meeting included JPCC general secretary Anadi Brahm,
Samsher Alam, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo and Ajay Rai.
