WEEKLY OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Please do not forget about your St. Columba Family
during these snowy times. The expenses at
St. Columba, like that of your family, continue year
round. Please mail or make up your weekly
donations during these times.
Our parish budget requires $4,000 weekly to meet
our expenses. On the weekend of
February 14th– February 15th we received $1,300
Thank you for your continued and generous support
of St. Columba Parish.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
FOR TV MINISTRY
The TV Ministry is in need of additional
volunteers to record our 10:00AM Sunday mass in
order to have it aired on the Paxton Cable channel
192 on Sunday. The process is simple and you will
start off learning with an experienced volunteer. For
all those interested there will be a meeting in the
choir loft on Monday, March 2nd at 7:30PM. If you
have any questions, please contact Mike Reardon at
508-363-0662 or [email protected].

LENTEN PARISH MISSIONS
Parishioners at St. Columba will have two
opportunities to attend a parish mission during Lent
this year.
The first mission will be held in St. Mary’s Church,
114 Princeton St., Jefferson on February 23 –25 at
7PM. It will be preached by Fr. John Savard, SJ, rector
of the Jesuit community at Holy Cross. A penance
service will be held on Wednesday night of the
mission week.
I encourage everyone who is able to attend. It’s a
great opportunity to be nourished during this special
time of the year.
The second opportunity for a parish mission will take
place at St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland at a later date
in the Lenten season. We will let you know the exact
time and date in the coming weeks.

RICE BOWL
Lent began on Ash Wednesday, February 18th. We
use this season of preparation to grow closer to God
through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. This year,
our parish will use Catholic Relief Services Rice
Bowl, a faith-in-action program that helps families
experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity
with people in need around the world.
Students (grade 1-8) will receive a cardboard CRS
Rice Bowl and a Lenten calendar, which contain a
prayer or reflection for you to say as a family each day
throughout Lent, recipes for meatless Fridays and
stories of Hope from people around the world. We
hope that this will be a valuable tool for your family’s
Lenten journey!
Rice Bowls will be distributed during your child’s
class and will also be available at Church. Rice Bowls
will be collected on Saturday, March 28th.
2015 Catholic Relief Services FoodFast
On Saturday, March 28th young adults from
St. Patrick’s Church & St. Columba Church (50 +)
will participate in C.R.S. FoodFast. FoodFast is a
24-hour event, which includes fasting, prayer,
service activities and discussion on the issues of
hunger and poverty in the world. The theme of
this year’s retreat will be “ENOUGH”.
The fact is there really is “ENOUGH” food in our
world for all. Participants in FoodFast will follow
the lead of Pope Francis and ask themselves why in
a world with “ENOUGH” food for all do then over 1
billion people go hungry? And what can we do as
high school students to help?
All youth Gr. 9-12 are invited to be part of
something BIG! Registration & parental consent
forms are available on the parish website.
ST. FRANCIS XAVIER NOVENA
The 92nd Annual St. Francis Xavier Novena will be
held at St. John’s Church, 44 Temple Street in
Worcester beginning on Wednesday, March 4th to
Thursday, March 12th. Mass and Novena Prayers will
be held on the weekdays at 9:15a.m., 12:15p.m. and
6:15p.m. and on the regular weekend schedule.
