BLACKWOOD HILLS BAPTIST CHURCH BHBC SPORT #16 THE BLUE RIBBON KOM RACE IS ON MARCH THE 22nd There are a few consistent improvers in the KOM handicap race. For example James Beck and Jack Chaplin seem to be able to get up there consistently. I guess simply because they are young men on the improve. Over the next few years it would not surprise me if they achieved good results. I see lots of improvement in them. Improving is the key in the Mud, Sweat and Gears blue ribbon event. If you can improve in a big way then you can find yourself with a chance of winning. I think Morris has got the handicaps really good now. The race is a lot closer for a lot more cyclists. KOM: the race that BHBC adores Of course it’s not all about a win. The start line is blessed to have amazing colour and atmosphere; this is something to experience. The Mud, Sweat and Gears blue ribbon race has something for everyone. Its a race that has captured the full attention of the Blackwood Hills Baptist Church. People at BHBC are now keen to learn about the race and about the many gifted cyclists that God has blessed us with in Mud, Sweat and Gears. What a race it will be! I pray to God that you are blessed by this race in many ways. I pray that you can look forward to it with excitement. I pray that Blackwood Hills Baptist Church and Mud, Sweat and Gears can be strengthened through this time of fellowship. EDITORIAL: GOD IS WITH US IN EVERY PART OF OUR LIFE Praise God for Mud, Sweat and Gears! Praise God for the cycling and fitness ministries within our Church at Blackwood Hills Baptist. Christian exercise with God at the centre of our purpose, plans and goals is another very important part of our lives. I kind of think that we all exercise. If we are walking or singing and praising God than we are still exercising! In this way everyone is exercising. God is with us in every part of our life, not simply prayer, praising God and Bible time and He is very much a part of our exercise life as well. Using these gifts and talents for God is something that the Blackwood Hills Baptist Church enjoys. The KOM race is getting faster and faster each year, and not simply faster at the top. The whole top ten has improved! There is more depth in Mud, Sweat and Gears than ever before. Despite champions Scott Intveld and Mark Lehmann out of the top ten, the times were still very fast last year. Rounding out the top ten was Craig Adams. Now Craig has actually won the race before. This man is capable of placing himself in the top 5 this year, no doubt. He is a lean riding machine capable of returning to excellent results. Daniel Badger finished in 9th last year, on a road bike! What a legend, can he improve on his time? Another exciting rider is Jake Racz. Jake is a rider on the improve in a big way. He is already very, very fast on the road bike and I think it’s only going to be a couple of years before we see him up the top, but for this years race I can see him moving up a place or two simply because he is a quality rider. Very much a road rider at this stage, but it’s good to see him doing good things on the MTB early on. Eric Lundborg has also achieved good times, along with Andrew Stone and David Wight. They have all worked very hard to become good riders. Brandon has also been consistently up in the top 4 and I have no doubt he will be up there once again. Michael Noske was some what of a surprise for us, although once you have seen him ride you know he's a quality cyclist. The battle for the KOM win is something very interesting to everyone at Mud, Sweat and Gears. The young favourite Isaac will battle it out to defend last years win, but there is definitely a few riders around to challenge him. The top ten is certainly more interesting than ever before. All the best for every cyclist.
