NNPS is a rigorous system used to benchmark
our products annually against set criteria.
It assesses a product’s nutritional contribution,
considering its role in a balanced diet,
its ingredients (including fat, added sugar,
calcium and wholegrain) and the serving size
usually consumed, either by adults or children.
Since implementation, we have renovated the
Nestlé portfolio representing 70% of net sales
to meet the Nutrition Foundation criteria.
As part of our continuous improvement our
ambition is to reach 80% by 2016.

60/40+ Program
The Nestlé 60/40+ program constantly
re-challenges our products to ensure that
they are preferred by at least 60% of

As part of the Nestlé staff wellness
program our employees across our

UNCLE TOBYS Cereals
UNCLE TOBYS breakfast cereals have undergone a series
of renovations with all meeting the Heart Foundation Tick
nutrient criteria. They deliver a source of fibre
(many are high fibre) and are made with at least
25% wholegrain (most are 75% wholegrain). All
UNCLE TOBYS cereals meet FSANZ nutrient profiling criteria.
DAIRY FOODS
MILO
MILO not only helps encourage milk consumption
but makes more of milk. One serve of MILO added to
milk boosts calcium content by 70%.* A sub-analysis
of National Children’s Nutrition and Activity Survey
found that MILO and milk drinkers consume more milk
and calcium than plain milk or non-milk consumers.^

functional teams draw on the expertise of our people within Consumer

Adult Fibre Intake Survey
Developing our own research tools to assess the
fibre intake of Australian adults. The results were
used to understand how UNCLE TOBYS Cereals can
deliver the fibre needs of adults and to assist in our
continuous product improvement process.
MILO Sub Analysis
Sub-analysing the 2007 National Nutrition and
Physical Activity survey of almost 5000 Australian
children to examine the role of milk drinking
(plain or flavoured) and more specifically MILO and
milk drinking amongst Australian children. The results
from the study were published in the peer reviewed
scientific journal Nutrition Research.

Working with researchers at the University of
Sydney to assess the Vitamin D status of Nestlé
Office workers at the Sydney head office. This was
presented as a poster at the DAA conference 2010
and is currently being submitted for publication in a

Nestlé & the AIS bring you a selection
of recipes for active families
san choy bau
chicken & pumpkin risotto
Serves 4 • Prep time 15 mins
• Cooking time 10 mins
Serves 6 • Prep time 20 mins
• Cooking time 40 mins + 5 mins standing time
1 tsp peanut oil
1 small onion, chopped
100g button mushrooms, chopped
2 tsp minced ginger
2 garlic cloves, crushed
300g lean chicken mince
6 shallots finely chopped
2 tbsp MAGGI Oyster Sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp fresh lime juice
½ cup coriander leaves, chopped
8 large iceberg lettuce leaves
oil for cooking
1 onion, thinly sliced
6 stalks celery, diced
1 red capsicum, diced
500g chicken breast fillet, cut into thin slices
1½ cups arborio rice
500g butternut pumpkin, cut into 2cm cubes
4 cups chicken stock, hot
375mL can CARNATION Light & Creamy
Coconut Flavoured Evaporated Milk
parsley, chopped, to serve
1 Heat oil in a wok over medium to high heat.
2 Add the onion, mushrooms, ginger and garlic
and cook for 2–3 minutes.
3 Add the chicken mince and cook in wok for
3 minutes or until cooked through, breaking
up any lumps with a wooden spoon.
4 Add half the shallots, MAGGI Oyster Sauce,
soy sauce and lime juice and cook for 2 minutes.
5 Remove from heat, spoon mixture into lettuce
cups and top with coriander leaves and
remaining shallots.
1 Heat oil in a large non-stick saucepan over
medium heat. Add onion, celery and capsicum
and cook for 5 minutes or until tender and
lightly golden. Add chicken and cook for
5 minutes or until cooked through.
2 Add rice and pumpkin and stir until combined.
3 Add stock gradually, stirring until all the liquid
has been absorbed. Add the CARNATION
Light & Creamy Coconut Flavoured
Evaporated Milk.
4 Remove from heat and stand for 5 minutes.
Divide between serving bowls and sprinkle
with parsley.

We engage in developing sustainable agricultural practices and systems

Nestlé Cocoa Plan
Nestlé’s 10 year Cocoa Plan was launched in 2009 backed by
an investment of $AU116 million. In Australia, the Cocoa Plan
means that every chocolate we sell is now independently
certified to ensure the cocoa is sourced and produced
sustainably on farms with safe working conditions.
UNCLE TOBYS locally sourced oats
To ensure a good supply of sustainable oats and support for
local farmers we have been working closely with the South
Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).
We source our entire supply – around 25,000 tonnes a year –
right here in Australia with the majority coming from within a
100km radius of our factory at Wahgunyah.
NESCAFÉ Coffee Plan
As the world’s biggest buyer of coffee we are spending
around $AU500 million in the wide ranging Nescafé Plan
endorsed by the Rainforest Alliance that is addressing
responsible farming, sourcing and consumption across our
coffee supply chain.
