On this third Sunday of Lent, we are invited into the
transformative conversation that the Lord Jesus has with the
woman of Samaria. Their sustained dialogue about the most important things
---even those matters which are the most painful and embarrassing---is the
precondition for Christ’s miracle of her conversion and His gift of a happier life
and a new mission for her.
Our Lenten speaker series has so far been a great success toward our
parish-wide conversion to love Christ more deeply. Now that we have been
edified by the two Coonan clerics---Fr. Matt and Fr. Tink---we are ready for Fr.
Ben Muhlenkamp (of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish fame), who will be
speaking about how his friendship with St. Philip Neri has helped grow his
relationship with the Lord Jesus. This presentation will be this Wednesday,
March 4 in church at 6:30PM and will include inspiring music as well as
personal witness. Fr. Ben, who was very active in our Life Teen program back
in the day, is currently a chaplain at Bishop Luers High School.
Finally, please continue to keep in your prayers the work of our
Principal Search Committee, which continues to meet in these coming weeks.
I have great confidence that the Holy Spirit will work through every stage of
the Search Committee’s discernment to identify the best candidate to be our
new Principal for the next school year.
In St. Vincent’s love of Christ,
Fr. Daniel Scheidt
PARISH FAMILY PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Please join us for a pancake breakfast THIS Sunday, March 8, from
8:00—11:00 am in the Parish Hall. The Knights of Columbus are preparing
a full breakfast including Pancakes, Eggs, Biscuits & Gravy, and Sausage
as well as Fresh Fruit, Yogurt, Cereal and Fresh Baked Cinnamon
Rolls. There is a free will donation to enjoy this delicious breakfast.
NEW MEMBER REGISTRATION
Parish representatives will be in the
Church Conference Room THIS
Sunday, March 8, after the 9:00 am
Mass to welcome and register new
members to St. Vincent’s.
HUNGERING FOR A
SEASON OF HOPE
The next stop on
our CRS Rice Bowl journey is the
African nation, Niger, where we’re
reminded that life’s joys and
challenges are often seasonal. This
week we pray for people who
struggle to feed their families during
the hungry season—when food is in
short supply—and we commit to
acting for the common good.
PASTORAL TEXTS THROUGH LENT
Would you like to receive a daily text message during this
Lenten season? Fr. David Mary, Msgr. Galic, Fr. Budzinski,
Fr. Gurtner and the honorable Bishop Kevin Rhoades have
provided text messages to support your spiritual journey.
Text "GO CATHOLIC" to 20300 to receive your daily message throughout Lent.
Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus 4th degree Anthony Wayne Assembly.
(Message and data rates may apply, if you do not have text messaging.)
1ST, 2ND & 3RD SCRUTINIES (ELECT)
In order to inspire the elect a desire for purification and redemption by Christ,
three scrutinies are celebrated. By this means, first of all, the elect are instructed
gradually about the mystery of sin, from which the whole world and every person
longs to be delivered and thus saved from its present and future consequences.
Second, their spirit is filled with Christ the Redeemer, who is the living water
(gospel of the Samaritan woman in the first scrutiny), the light of the world (gospel
of the man born blind in the second scrutiny), the resurrection and the life (gospel
of Lazarus in the third scrutiny). From the first to the final scrutiny the elect should
progress in their perception of sin and their desire for salvation.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION CLASSES
ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY PANTRY
Attendance at two Baptismal Preparation Sessions
is required before your child is baptized — Session I
and Session II. You may attend Session II before
Session I, if necessary. Each session will begin at
7:00 pm. It is recommended that both parents
attend before the birth of your child so that there will be no delay
in setting a date for the baptism once the baby is born.
Godparents, too, are welcome. At least one parent and one
godparent must be practicing Catholics. Also, parents must be
registered in the Parish. Please call the church office to sign up
for your sessions.
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society pantry is in need of
Baked beans
Pork & beans
Canned beef stew

THANK YOU for your continued support!
Session I (Parish Library) - March 12
Session II (Church Conference Room) - March 26
NEEDED: INFORMATION ABOUT OLD CEMETERY
The St. Vincent's Knights of Columbus help maintain the
old cemetery on the north side of Wallen Road. The
Knights have rebuilt the steps of the altar this past year
and in the spring will straighten the tombstones and
refinish the mahogany cross at the altar. A situation of
concern are headstones displaced from the original
grave and areas with no headstones. If you have
information about persons buried in the old cemetery
without a headstone, information that will help us update
the records of the old cemetery, or any information you
feel would be of interest about the old cemetery, please
contact Jim Cox at 637-4969 or [email protected].
ROSARY MEETING
March 9 (DATE CHANGE!!) at 6:30 pm in the Spiritual
Center. All women of the parish are invited. We will pray
the rosary and string miraculous medals.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Please remember that the spaces marked with the
blue lines are for handicap use only. Also, please
respect the spacing required for ramps and lifts where
these spaces are indicated by blue hashes. The spaces
for the handicapped are along the pull in drive next to the
Eucharistic Chapel and along the closest drive on the
south side of the church. Thank you for your kind
consideration of those who need these spaces.

LENTEN MASS & BREAKFAST
Every Lent, we joyfully rely less on sleep and more on Christ as
we go to the 6:30 am Mass every Tuesday during Lent. If
there’s a 2-hour delay, we’ll go to the 8:00 am Mass. We then
head over to the Life Center to eat some delicious breakfast to
help us get through the day. Bring your parents too if you need
a ride!! And if anyone would be able to help us out by making
a hot dish like a casserole or biscuits & gravy or any other
dish, please talk to Sarah - we’d be ever so grateful! Thanks!!
LIFE NIGHTS
We round out our nights focusing on vocations with our night
about the priesthood, led by our very own Fr. Andrew. It’s a
night you don’t want to miss. Even if this isn’t your vocation,
we need to build up our young men discerning it and our
future sons.
INTO THE DEEP
Our Spring Retreat, Into the Deep, is set for April 17—19. It’s
going to be an incredible weekend to get away from your usual
routine and have some time to really grow closer to Christ
through talks, small groups, witnesses, skits, praise and
worship music, randomness, silence and so much more. The
retreat may be full by printing, so check with Sarah to get your
spot or to be placed on the waiting list.
INTO THE DEEP PRELUDE
Prelude is where we make all the Palancas and decorations
for the retreat. We meet every Tuesday & Thursday from
7-9 @ the Life Center, so just stop by anytime you have a free
moment. We’d love to say hi.
LIFE TEEN ON THE WEB

us out. The Spring Retreat will be here soon, and forms are

YOU DID IT FOR ME
When Abed came to the United
States, he left behind a war-torn
village--and every relative and family
member he'd ever known. Starting
fresh, the programs offered by his local Catholic Charities
helped him learn English, develop his skills, and eventually
make enough money for his children to join him. "I felt like I
had lost my identity," he said, "but now I feel like I have
made a new home."
Last year, over 21,000 refugees nationwide achieved
self-sufficiency thanks to the support of Catholic Charities
programs. To learn more, please visit
www.CatholicCharitiesUSA.org.

During Lent, donate your old
eyeglasses, including sunglasses, to
