Tamar Views No. 408 Mar 5 2015 Bulletin of the Rotary Club of South Launceston Visit our website http://www.rotary-sthlaunceston.org.au/ PRESIDENT CRAIG’S NOTES Hello Rotarians, The importance of trying to eliminate bullying from society was brought home last week with our guest speaker Ruben telling us the story of his daughter who was the victim of this as a young girl. The consequences were disastrous, but luckily they gradually got on top and brought her back from the brink. Any help we can give to assist more public awareness and prevention can only be of benefit to our community. A successful day at Benham on Saturday. 250 bags collected, finished at 12:30, BBQ and refreshment, then home to unload. Well done team. Any rotarians who are going to the conference should be registered as soon as possible. There is a breakfast forum on Sunday at 7am that is free for any Rotarians or Allied Associates between the ages of 18-45 who would like to have a say in what Rotary should look like in the years to come. Any younger members interested please contact me. A most enjoyable evening Saturday night at the Chinese Banquet. 24 attendees which was a good attendance. The Glen Dhu BBQ is being held this Thursday evening. We got short notice but are handling it. There will be a display of Rotary activities and an opportunity to promote the day at Sharmans vineyard. Rotarians please keep Sharmans in mind and promote to as many as possible as we need numbers on the day. Any Rotarians interested in seeing Evita next Wednesday please see Glenda as a number of the club are attending. Please contatct PP Dale if you are not sure how to register for the working with children Police form. This is a state law, so don't blame Rotary. Committee members, board meeting this Thursday night. All the best, President Craig. Angel’s Goal – 900 000 hits to its Facebook page in its first year and has TV ads on our screens soon. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary. Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behaviour." John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behaviour, the bird spoke-up, very softly, "May I ask what the turkey did?"
