Woodstock MS Heads to National Science Bowl

A Woodstock Middle School team is headed to the 2015 National Science Bowl after winning the Regional
competition this past weekend in Savannah.
The team, which went undefeated through the sub-regional and regional competitions, is the only middle school
team representing the state of Georgia at the National competition, which is from April 30 to May 4 in Washington,
D.C. All expenses for the team’s trip will be paid as part of its Regional championship prize.
The team of Laney Broussard, Greg Carroll, Katie Gilliam, Andy Jiang and Camilo Rincon is coached by Brandi
Miller and Heidi Switzer.
The 25th annual National competition gives middle and high school students the opportunity to compete by
solving technical problems and answering questions from science fields including biology, chemistry, Earth and
space science, physics and math
The top eight middle school teams and 16 high school teams in the National finals will win $1,000 for their
schools’ science departments. More than 14,000 students participate each year in the various levels of the
competition.
