The student body at UMKC represents 82 nations as well as the United States. Leadership in Practice This program was developed over 19 years ago by the Missouri Chamber Education Foundation to engage Missouri high school students in hands on, real world leadership training. This camp experience will be held Sunday, June 21 - Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. This program is for 9th graders who will be sophomores in 2015-2016. Audrey Walton Youth Leadership Conference This is a FREE conference on the MU-Columbia campus and is open to students who are in the 10th & 11th grade this school year. The conference focuses on teaching youth about leadership, higher education, and a healthy lifestyle. The conference takes place this year July 16-18, 2015. Proof of residency is required. • a 3.00 or better GPA • minimum ACT score of 18 Deadline: April 7, 2015 Missouri Bankers Foundation Scholarship Applicants must be graduating seniors who have exhibited academic achievement and/or economic need. Deadline: March 13, 2015 OMega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship Abott & Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship These scholarships are offered to graduating MALE seniors who plan to attend college in the fall. The applicant must have a GPA of at least 2.50 and participated in community service above and beyond the basic graduation requirement of 10 hours. These $1,000 scholarships are offered to JUNIORS OR SENIORS in high school. To apply for this scholarship, you need to write an essay of 500 to 1000 on the following topic: Mrs. Hutsell has the applications in her office. Deadline: March 31, 2015 Greater Kansas City School Librarians' Education Scholarship These $500 scholarships are offered to any graduating senior in the Greater KC area. Deadline: April 1, 2015 Kris Paper Legacy Scholarship for Women Scholarships for graduating female seniors who intend to further their education at a 2year or 4-year college or technical school and will be seeking a degree in a technology related field. Award amount: minimum of $1,500. $500 awards to a deserving senior who has demonstrated a committment to community service, has at least a 3.00 GPA, a strong history of work experience and/or volunteerism, good attendance, some extra curricular activities and/or leasdership experiences. See Mrs. Hutsell for an application. Deadline is: APRIL 6, 2015 Hazel Grove Elementary Alumni Scholarship Scholarships are offered to graduating seniors who attended Hazel Grove Elementary. Deadline: Thursday, April 2, 2015 Whiteman Spouses' Club Scholarship Applicant must be a graduating senior who will be attending college in the fall and MUST BE THE DEPENDENT OF AN OFFICER OR ENLISTED MILITARY MEMBER (active duty, guard/reserve assigned to Whiteman AFB, POW/ MIA, retired, or deceased), residing in the local area, and graduating from a high school within 50 miles of Whiteman AFB or a home-schooled student. Women Legislators of Missouri Scholarship Blue Springs School of Economics Scholarship This organization awards scholarships to graduating high school senior girls in Missouri. Eight awards are given out, one from each Missouri U.S. Congressional District. Eligibility Requirements: An essay is required (500 word limit) on the topic: If you were a state legislator, what would you hope to accomplish and why? Mrs. Hutsell has applications in her office. Deadline to apply: March 19, 2015 Lee's Summit MSTA 2015 Scholarship This scholarship is offered to a senior whose parent is an active member of the LS-MSTA. A one page essay explaining why you feel you should be chosen to receive this scholarship & your planned college major is required as well as TWO teacher recommendations. DEADLINE: March 27, 2015 Rita Kramer/Prairie View Elementary Scholarship Three (3) $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Prairie View Elementary. Awards are based on activities, GPA, essay and 2 letters of recommendation. The essay is over the following topic: What advice would you give PVE kids to be successful in middle school and high school? • applicant must have attended the Blue Springs School of Economics some time during his/her years as a K-6 student. • applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above. • applicant must submit a 500 words or less essay describe a favorite memory or experience they had while attending SOE and how winning this scholarship will make future career goals more attainable. Claud Shaffer Scholarship This scholarship is sponsored by the Lee's Summit Rotary Club and is offered to ANY student planning to attend Longview OR any MCC campus next year (THIS INCLUDES A+ STUDENTS!!!) The Rotary will award a $1,000 scholarship to one boy and one girl from each of the Lee's Summit R7 high schools. Even students who plan to attend PART-TIME. This is an amazing opportunity! M.D. "Jack" Murphy Memorial Scholarship This award is available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a REGISTERED NURSE. Applicant must be in the top 40% of their class or have a "C" grade average. Joseph J. Frank Scholarship Applicants must have attended a full session of Boys State or Girls State AND be the descendant of a veteran. Must use the scholarship money as a full time student in an accredited college or university. Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship Applicants must be either a member of the American Legion OR a DESCENDANT of a member of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary or the Sons of The American Legion. Erman W. Here is their website: www.gkccf.org/scholarships Epps Scholarship Fund Applicants must be graduating seniors who plan to attend a four-year university and then go on to LAW SCHOOL. Each scholarship will be a minimum of $2,000 annually paid out in two equal installments. This is not a renewable scholarship. Applications are taken online: Deadline: April 30, 2015 Underwood Elementary Scholarship These scholarships are for graduating seniors who attended Underwood Elementary. Community Service hours are given priority when evaluating these applications; a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.00 is also required as well as an essay on the topic: "We receive more than we give when we volunteer". Deadline: April 1, 2015 Lee's Summit North Guidance Office 11 LEE'S SUMMIT COUNCIL OF PTA'S SCHOLARSHIP Six scholarships of $500 each will be given out this year: 2 to each high school.
