Dear Parents and Carers
Student Leaders
At a Special Assembly on Wednesday, the school captains, school vice-captains, house captains and house
vice- captains, Student Councillors, Art monitors, Library monitors, Sport monitors and Transition Leaders
were presented with their Leaders Badges, by Ms Clare
O’Neil, the Federal Member for Hotham. Ms O’Neil
gave a short speech about the responsibilities of leadership and the great honour bestowed on our student
leaders. I believe we have a very strong group of student leaders this year, who are ready and willing to set
a fine example for their fellow students. I wish them all
the best for 2015.

Annual General Meeting
School Council Annual General (AGM) Meeting is on
Monday 16th March at 6:30. All Heatherhill community
is invited. The first School Council meeting for 2015 will
follow the AGM.
There are three vacancies for parent positions on
School Council. Please see me if you are interested in

FESTIVAL of THOUGHT – Twilight Event – MARCH 26
At Heatherhill we like to celebrate and showcase the
learning undertaken each term. The overarching theme
across the school for Term 1 has been “Thinking”. Each
learning centre has investigated “Thinking” in a different
way, appropriate to the level and abilities of the students.
I invite you to attend this term’s culminating event for
Junior, Middle and Senior School will be held on Thursday
26th March from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. All students are expected to attend and showcase the Inquiry Learning for
Term 1. Some marvellous activities include: puppet plays,
debates, philosophical thinking, reflections, Art work,
Healthy Mind/Healthy Body, Yoga, Literature Circles, role
plays, and much, much more!
Families may wish to bring a picnic to enjoy in between
activities. The Sausage Man will have his BBQ here and
will be selling yummy sausages in bread for $2:50. Students and staff are preparing for this special event and we
hope to see all Heatherhill families that evening
CASTLEMAINE STATE FESTIVAL
The fame of our school continues: The School Choir has
been invited to perform the ‘Possum Cloak Song’ at the
Castlemaine State Festival on March 21. What a wonderful honour. Ms. Townsend, Miss Harris, Miss Dare, Ms.
Fran and I will be taking the choir for an overnight stay in
Castlemaine that weekend.
Extend OSHC at
Heatherhill Primary School
Over the last fortnight we had lots of
different activities. We made 3D bugs, we
did some bubble painting and made some
origami creations. We even got messy
with some slime and made yummy coconut truffles.

Water Safety
Heatherhill was extremely lucky this term to be
accepted into a special Water Safety Program,
run at Edithvale beach. Both the Middle School
and the Senior School students participated in this very
exciting safety activity.
The children heard a safety talk about rips and swimming
between the flags. After that they practised with PFDs
(personal safety devices), nipper boards and body boards.
Just looking at the photographs will let you know how
much they all enjoyed the day.
HOLIDAY PROGRAM BOOKINGS ARE OPEN AT A SCHOOL
NEAR YOU!
Book by Friday 20 March to avoid a late fee.
Our holiday program bookings are open and there’s a local
one near you – all Extend’s holiday programs are open to primary school aged boys and girls. And the great news is, if
you’re already enrolled with us for After School Care you
won’t need to enrol again to access our Holiday Programs.
We have heaps of fun activities planned these school holidays
and we can’t wait for you to attend! To check out what’s on
and where your local program is, visit our website at extend.com.au and book via the Parent Portal.
Watch this space throughout the term for regular updates
