DESCRIPTION:
Under supervision, performs typing and other related clerical work
requiring the exercise of independent judgment and a working knowledge
of department rules, regulations, and policies, and/or has charge of the
work of a small group of clerk typists, and/or has charge of the designated
phase of the typing work of the department; does related work as required.

N/A
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of experience in clerical work including typing.
NOTE: Successful completion of a clerical training program with a
minimum of 700 clerical training hours or 30 semester hour credits in
secretarial science from an accredited college or university may be
substituted for the experience indicated above. Coursework must include
typing skills, methods, and procedures; other courses may include, but not
be limited to, office procedures, word processing, and business English.
OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING:
Employees must be serving in a permanent capacity for an aggregate of at
least one (1) year in any competitive title immediately preceding the
posting date and meet the requirements stated above to be eligible for
appointment.
Employees to be eligible for appointment must be serving in a permanent
capacity for an aggregate of at least one (1) year in the non-competitive
title(s) of Clerk, Clerk Stenographer, and Clerk Typist immediately
preceding the posting date and meet the requirements.
For voluntary reassignment eligibility, employees must be serving
permanently in the title of Senior Clerk Typist preceding the posting date.
Any appointments made from postings which involve movement between
divisions, may result in a forfeiture of rights to any promotional list in the
former unit.
RESIDENCY LAW: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70),
also known as the “New Jersey First Act,” which became effective
September 1, 2011, all persons newly hired by the Executive Branch on or
after that date shall have one year from the date of employment to
establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
New Jersey State employees hired prior to September 1, 2011 who transfer
from within the Executive Branch or from another State of New Jersey
appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days but
who reside outside the State of New Jersey are not required to change their
principal residence to New Jersey in order to comply with the act.
