2ND COLLECTION: “Amen” I say to you, whatever you did for one of
these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt. 25:40). Today we are
reminded that Jesus identified himself with our poorest brothers and sisters. The
Catholic Relief Services Collection serves Jesus in the victims of human
trafficking, in those who suffer from unjust laws, and in those who need pastoral
care and humanitarian assistance across the globe. Through supporting today’s
second collection, you help Jesus in disguise. Please be generous.
If you would like to donate towards our Easter flowers in
memory of a loved one, please pick up an envelope on the
carts, fill it out and place it in the collection basket.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY DINNER
Please join us after the 4:00 p.m. Mass this Saturday,
March 14, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., in the parish hall for
our annual St. Patrick’s Day Corned Beef Dinner,
sponsored by parishioners of North Waterboro and
Shapleigh. We will be serving Corned Beef, Potatoes,
Carrots, Cabbage, Turnip, Irish Soda Bread, Beverage
and Dessert. Hot Dogs and Macaroni and Cheese will also be served.
Adults: $10; Children 7-12: $5; Children 6 and under are free.
On January 24, 2015 St. Matthew held its first Free Throw Contest for boys and
girls (ages 9—14). Seven children participated at the local level and five were
eligible to compete at the District level in Sanford. Three girls competed for their
age groups and became eligible for the State competition on March 7: Samantha
Roy for 9 year-old girls, Taylor Bastarache for 11 year-old girls, and Brianna
Bastarache for 13 year-old girls. Congratulations to all, and thank you to the
parents who supported them
PAMPHLET RACK: Check out our new selection of pamphlets in the
narthex. We have many new topics available. Please see the back of
the pamphlet for the suggested donation and place it in the box
provided.
RICE BOWLS: Hungering for Peace—We join with CRS Rice Bowl to
Lebanon to be present to a people who, themselves, are on a journey.
Here we meet a family of Syrian refugees, a family perhaps not so unlike
our own. We are challenged through our almsgiving this week to reach
out to those who are forced to flee their homes who are seeking shelter in
a land of peace. If you would like to participate in the Rice Bowl
almsgiving project, you can pick up a bowl on the carts in the narthex.
ADULT LENTEN BIBLE STUDY: This Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m., and
each Sunday through March 29, our Faith Formation program will sponsor
the DVD-based program, A Quick Journey through the Bible. Jeff Cavins,
formerly of EWTN, takes a chronological walk through the Bible story in a
way that reveals God’s plan for his creation; what went wrong at the
beginning, and how God worked through history to reconcile his lost children
to himself.
W.I.N.G.S.: This group will meet Wednesday, March 18, from
7:00-9:00 p.m.
Women of all ages who want to grow in their
relationship with God are invited to join the faith
enrichment group W.I.N.G.S. (Women in God’s Spirit).
Meetings consist of prayer, song, Scripture, faith
sharing and hospitality. The spring session will meet
for six consecutive Wednesday nights, beginning April 8th
through May 13th, from 7-9 pm in the kindergarten room. As a
framework for our spiritual journey we will use the book, The
Women of the Gospels; Missionaries of God’s Love, by Mary
Ann Getty-Sullivan. Books can be ordered on Amazon for $8.95
(used books are available for as little as $2.98). Need help
ordering a book? I will order for you. Not able to secure the
book? Come anyway! And bring your beautiful spirit! Have
questions? Contact Debbie Wentworth, 247-1067 or email
[email protected]
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 4th DEGREE: Members will meet
on Thursday, March 19, for dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed
by a meeting.

FR. RICHARD A. NADEAU SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship was
established in honor of our former Pastor, Father Richard Nadeau, to help
pay for education in Catholic secondary schools for deserving members of
St. Matthew Parish. It is an award given annually and made in the form of a
check sent directly to the Catholic secondary school attended. Application
forms are available in the parish office and are due back no later than 12:00
noon, Friday, May 1, 2015.
The High School Youth Ministry is again collecting items for
EASTER BASKETS. These are given out to local families in
our Food Pantry as well as extras to local schools who are in
need. If anyone knows of a family in need, please let Deacon
Paul know. We need baskets, small toys, grass, lots of candy
of all kinds, and cellophane to cover them. We'd like to thank
you all in advance for your generosity. The box is in the
Narthex.
MARCH 15, 2015

keepsake booklet from this collection of letters, reminiscences, and
reflections.
Would you like to be part of this piece of Mercy history? If so, please
send your memories by mail to the Sisters of Mercy – Northeast
Community, 966 Riverside Street, Portland, ME 04103, or by email to
[email protected]. Please be sure to include your contact
information in your submission. Thank you. Submissions are due by May
1, 2015.
