Program Overview
Registration Form
You are invited to participate in any or all of our 4 free monthly meetings that focus on parents and schools working together towards student achievement. This original parent -­‐
designed program will be a mix of children working separately and then rejoining their parents (child care is also provided). Each meeting will allow parents and children to work, play, and learn together! The four areas chosen by parent volunteers are: !

Each meeting will be about an hour in length. There will be free dinner (a half hour prior to the meeting). Participants will receive a rafFle ticket for every meeting they attend. A raf?le will be drawn at the last session. If you attend all 4 sessions, you will be honored for your time and dedication to your children. !

The experiences will be tailored by our staff, to help parents teach their children at home, maximizing their school experience. We know school instruction can be overwhelming at times, this program is designed to better support you as a parent when working with your child. !

Description: Parents, you love your children but do you ever wish you could Put an End to Arguing, Back Talk and Begging? This common parenting issue will be covered, proven strategies, and a real world discussion will give parents tools to deal with this and other common struggles which can affect family harmony. Kathy Roe a nationally recognized parent educator, and Executive Director of Parents Anonymous-­‐NJ will present/facilitate this discussion with other "experts" (real parents) and a model of solving this problem will be shared. Children will later rejoin, and we will demonstrate this approach to bring about greater compliance and peace in our homes.

Description: Remember the days of using the chalkboard in the classroom? It is time to step out of the past and into the 21st century classroom to see what devices your children are using to enhance their learning. Today students use iPads, computers, smart boards and speciFic software programs to support learning and produce original products. In this meeting you will learn about the goals of the 21st century classroom and see how it has changed from the time you attended school. Children will work together with their parents to create a MY FAMILY project using the MacBook.

When: April 22, 2015 Where: Port Monmouth Road School Media Center Time: 6:00-­‐7:30 Facilitators: Dana Lufrano & Ashley Szotak When: May 14, 2015 Where: Port Monmouth Road School Media Center Time: 6:00-­‐7:30 Facilitators: Dana Lufrano & Ashley Szotak Description: Does math seem more difFicult today then when you were learning it? Does your child come home with homework that you don't understand? Do you want to see what and how they are learning in school? Here is your chance to have an opportunity to see what math instruction looks like in schools today. Parents and students will have the opportunity to explore basic math instructional practices and work together in creating a common language for math at home.
Description: Do you enjoy reading with your child or helping them with Language Arts assignments but are sometimes unsure on how to best assist him or her? You are not alone, many parents feel the same way. In this meeting you will be able to learn more about Language Arts Instruction and how teachers support students in this area. You will walk away with speciFic ways you can encourage your child at home so that he or she will be on the path to becoming a life long learner
