International Student Requirements – Guidance Notes In order to study a course at Derby College, international students need to be aware of the following guidance: Courses undertaken should be full-time - minimum 15 hours taught time per week For courses level 3 or higher: If you are following a course at any level with a sponsor which is a publicly funded further education college course, the following work is allowed: Part-time during term-time, which is no more than 10 hours a week; Full-time during vacations; On a work placement as part of a course, providing the work placement does not amount to more than 33% of the course; As a Student Union Sabbatical Officer for up to two years. The student must be able to show that they are making direct academic progress in line with previous studies and be studying at a higher level than their previous course. . All international students will be required to pay for their course up front in full. All international students, specifically for Higher Education level programmes will be required to already have passed IELTS at 5.5 overall and provide a copy of this with their application. In addition an interview will be required before a place can be offered.
