WISCONSIN RIVER POWER COMPANY IS SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR 2015 DEER HUNT FOR DISABLED HUNTERS (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2015) Wisconsin River Power Company (WRPCO) has sponsored an annual gun deer hunt since 2008 in the 750-acre Petenwell Wildlife Area located adjacent to the Wisconsin River, near Necedah, Wisconsin. We encourage all hunters with a Class-A disability permit to apply. The application form can be found on the WRPCO website, www.wisconsinriverpower.com, click on “Deer Hunt for Disabled Hunters” or contact Darrin Johnson at (715) 345-7509 or [email protected]. Please apply by June 1, 2015. We limit the number of hunters to no more than 10 per year and will notify successful applicants by June 30, 2015. The Petenwell Wildlife Area is a wildlife refuge owned by WRPCO and is closed to all hunting during our annual gun deer hunt for disabled hunters. Special hunting stands have been developed by experienced hunters who share the same passion for deer hunting. All the stands are in great locations, and are totally accessible and functional for hunters, regardless of their mobility challenges. We provide transportation to and from the stands. We require all hunters to have a partner while they hunt. Hunters can bring their own partner or one of our volunteers will sit with you. Our experienced volunteers look forward to the opportunity and will also take care of all field dressing, dragging, tracking, etc. We utilize a cell phone communications system between the base camp and the stands so that hunters and their partners can call for any assistance needed at any time. The goal of our volunteers is to provide a quality and successful hunt for all our hunters! Contact: Darrin Johnson, (715) 345-7509 or [email protected] WRPCO provides the meals and services mentioned below free of charge! The weekend hunting activities begin early on Friday afternoon with introductions and a safety presentation. Following an afternoon/evening hunt on Friday, WRPCO sponsors a dinner for the hunt participants and guests. The Saturday hunt begins with early morning coffee, juice, and a light breakfast, then heading out to the deer stands before sun up. Late morning on Saturday we bring the hunters in and serve them a deer camp breakfast. Then take the hunters back out to the deer stands early afternoon for the Saturday afternoon/evening hunt. After gathering up the hunters at the end of hunting, we break for the day. On Sunday morning we follow the same early morning schedule as on Saturday. Breakfast is once again provided after the Sunday morning hunt and the hunt concludes about noon. Hunters are responsible for: lodging, remaining meals, personal equipment, license and deer processing, transportation to base camp located at the WRPCO office and shop at the Petenwell Dam near Necedah, Wisconsin. Please join us! We will do everything possible to ensure you have an enjoyable and productive hunt! www.wisconsinriverpower.com
