A Message from the President
“Over the Rainbow, Classic fashions you dare dream of, do come true”…..and so they shall
on March 12th ….. But even before that, Talbot’s will help us down the yellow brick road by hosting a
fabulous Kick-Off Event in their store at The Streets of Indian Lakes on Friday, March 6th from 2-6 pm.
Everyone is invited! Food, fun, 25% discounts on spring fashions – and 10% of all sales go to
Newcomers for our charity!
Once again, area businesses are generously donating door prizes for our fashion show. Please save
any door prizes you were planning to bring, for next month. Better yet, consider buying extra tickets
from the Money Tree instead, to support our Charity of the Month, HomeSafe, Inc. (Please see page 2)
TWO BIG DATES: Mark your calendar for the KICK-OFF EVENT at Talbot’s on March 6th with food, fun
and great discounts. Then get your tickets for an awesome fashion show on March 12th, and spread the
word! Family - friends - neighbors! Your personal invitation is worth a thousand flyers! (Please see page
5 inside for more details.)
Come, join us, and let our lovely models take you “Over the Rainbow” as we watch our dreams of
classic fashions come true - right before our eyes. It’s one of Newcomers’ favorite rites of spring, and it
should be great fun! ‘Hope to see you there….

Charity of the Month: HomeSafe, Inc. of Sumner County provides an array of services
for survivors of domestic violence, including support to children, youth, parents and elders.
Services include: 24-Hour Help line, Emergency Shelters, Counseling, Crisis Intervention, Support Groups,
Referrals, Legal Advocacy and follow-up. Staff and Volunteers provide presentations and trainings to schools,
churches, civic, and community groups about the dynamics of domestic violence to help individuals recognize
and avoid violent relationships.
Sadly, this is a much needed service in our commuity. Proceeds from our Money Tree Fundraiser will
help support this invaluable resource. Please join in this effort by purchasing Money Tree tickets from
Sharyn Evans, Fundraising Director, at our March Luncheon. It will support a great cause and you may
win $50 in the drawing! One dollar per ticket…or go for the bargain: 6 tickers for $5!
The Coffee Connection: Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10 am is at

An Evening of Wine & Appetizers
These evenings have been very
enjoyable and very popular since we started getting together like this, over a year ago!
However, we now have some gaps in the schedule for March, April, May and July and
on through the rest of 2015! After February, the next scheduled Wine & App is in
June at Becky and Tony Ivey’s house.
If anyone would like to volunteer to host the March event, please let Wendy Perry
know ASAP. We can get the word out via email. You can set a limit on the number of
guests, which has worked well in the past. (Please see the box below.)
Thank you so much to Mike and Brenda Mortimer for hosting the Wine & Appetizers in January and
Cheryl and Derek Deeter for being out hosts in February. Fun times, good company, delicious food!
If you would like to host an Evening of Wine & Appetizers on the last Friday or Saturday of the month
during the next several months, please contact Wendy Perry at [email protected] or call(615) 9265862. The host provides the plates, utensils, cups, napkins and perhaps water. All the food and
beverages are brought by the guests. If your house is smaller, you can set a limit on the number of
attendees who will RSVP – first come, first serve.

To Make You Aware: Effective February 28th, you will have to dial the area code before the phone
number in the 615 area. Nashville is adding a new area code, 629, to service the growing population.
The directory and members database has numerous home and cell numbers that do not have the area
code listed. It will be assumed that all current members are under the 615 area code and the directory
and database will be corrected to show that.
